🎆Genedrive are delighted to receive “Breakthrough Device Designation” by the US FDA for the Genedrive MT-RNR1 ID Kit 💊 The Genedrive® MT-RNR1 kit is the world’s first rapid point-of-care test to screen infants in an urgent care setting for a genetic variant that will cause life-long hearing loss when carriers of the variant are given certain antibiotics. Those infants identified by the MT-RNR1 ID kit as carrying the variant can then be given alternative antibiotics. In 2021, 3.7 million babies were born in the USA, with 10.5% born prematurely. On February 4, 2021, VG Acquisition Corp. (NYSE: VGAC) acquired 23andMe.. To my understanding, the 23andMe was on a much worse situation than Invitae. Who would rescue Invitae in coming months is interesting to note. This is a time when FDA will make it more difficult for LDTs to survive, at least in terms of cost of operation part for Invitae like business.
