The Evolution of #Micromobility in Cities 🚲🛴 I finally had the time to sit down and listen to the Zipidi podcast sharing an international perspective on the evolution of micromobility 🎙️ The podcast is hosted by Krystyna Weston & Stephen Coulter with this week's special guest being none other than Scott Shepard, AICP, LEED®AP, PMP. If you only have two minutes, read through my key takewaways below... 🤠 The Days of the Micromobility Wild West is Over!!! The script has flipped. No longer can operators employ the #ridehailing approach of land grab without consent, nor can they buy marketshare via internal subsidies or discounts. Cities have gotten wise, and VCs now want sustainable growth. 🌆 Cities need to think of their Why? Cities can no longer make policies and regulation FoMo, copy & paste or rubber stamp requirements that don't make sense. It is now time to think about what they want the future of their city to look like and how micromobility plays a part in it. Recent positive examples include Brussels 🇧🇪, Oslo 🇳🇴, Milan 🇮🇹 and Vienna 🇦🇹. Rethink, Review (what works & doesn't), Reflect (on what the future looks like) 🤬 Learn from F*ck Ups & Industry Feedack Don't follow Paris 🇫🇷, Madrid 🇪🇸 & San Diego 🇺🇸. Annual permit renewals don't work - they're more work for both public and private. Implement rolling KPIs for transparent performance.
