How it should Be.
This photo is also very personal to me. Mary Njoki is the CEO of Glass House PR LTD. That makes them our direct competitors. Sometimes how our industry works, is we are invited to pitch for new business by organizations in different sectors including banking and finance, telcos, FinTech, manufacturing and more, to offer them strategic communications services to connect them to their markets. Sometimes I will ask who are we pitching against. Whenever they mention Glass House PR, I will call my people at CALLA PR and tell them “Please note that Mary will be there!” That information is important because Mary goes all out. She doesn’t take chances. She always brings out her A-game. Enough to make us wonder how different we will be. Here we are, getting awarded together. And I congratulate her for the great job she’s been doing in our industry for over a decade. We can compete, but we can also collaborate.

Steve Jobs - Get Much Simpler, Be Really Clear 💲 Steve Jobs emphasized returning to basics with a focus on great products, marketing, and distribution, highlighting that Apple had strayed from these fundamentals. 💲 Jobs mentioned a significant simplification of Apple's product line, eliminating 70% of the planned products to enhance focus and clarity, which was well received by the engineering team. 💲 He discussed the need to improve Apple's distribution strategy, aiming to reduce inventory in pipelines to better respond to customer demands and set new industry standards. 💲 Jobs stressed the importance of marketing that resonates with values rather than specifications, using the example of Nike's advertising strategy, which focuses on celebrating athletes rather than the product itself. 💲 He pointed out that Apple needs to rejuvenate its brand, moving away from technical jargon to connect with customers on a more emotional and value-oriented level, similar to successful campaigns like "Got Milk?" and Nike's ads.

Shoutout to Diana Abdrakhmanova from Berlin, who's mastered the art of friendly accountability. Her latest truth bomb: ”Great product means nothing if your pitch can't open the door.” 🔥 This HR/TA Champ doesn't just give feedback. She gives reality checks: 🔵 Challenges our messaging 🔵 Reshapes our sales pitch 🔵 Pushes for progress updates 🔵 Brings decades of expertise to every call Why her feedback hits different: 💥 Deep HR/TA experience 💥 Zero sugar coating 💥 Genuine care for success 💥 Perfect balance of push and support Most founders seek/find yes-people. I got lucky with a 'yes, but better' person. To Diana: Your 'What's the progress there, Dude?' messages keep us moving forward. Your pitch feedback keeps us honest. Your friendship makes the journey better. Because sometimes the best design partners become the best accountability partners. P.S. Our sales pitch is getting that upgrade you demanded, btw 😉

What I learned from the Bhavish / Kunal 🥊💥 I believe everyone saw the recent exchange between Ola Electric’s Bhavish Aggarwal and comedian Kunal Kamra. As a founder, I could relate to the situation. Being the face of my company, these are the things I've learnt and follow when such a crisis hits. 👇 1️⃣ Getting defensive will make things worse. Listen and address it head-on, plus offer a solution, even if it takes a while, a solution in sight will calm the situation. 2️⃣ What you speak directly affects your brand, so be mindful of what you put out to the public. 3️⃣ Be prepared for everything. No matter how great your product is, there will be times when it falls short. A solid communication strategy can save you from PR pitfalls. Founders are human too, but how we handle criticism is what sets us apart. 💯 What's your opinion on founders responding to public criticism?

Reframe your thought process by asking what impact you can have on a client vs what product you can sell them. I am a relationship manager, not just a branch manager and I HELP business owners. We love this visual reminder from Daniel Disney on the essence of effective sales especially as we reach the end of the month... It’s not about pushing products but about genuinely connecting with and helping people. Here’s what HELP truly means in sales: Honesty: Always be transparent with your clients. Trust is the foundation of any relationship. Empathy: Understand and share the feelings of others. This creates a bond that goes beyond transactions. Listening: Truly hear what your customers are saying. This shows respect and helps you understand their needs. Problems: Solve problems for your clients. When you provide real solutions, sales happen naturally. Let’s strive to be better at helping rather than just selling. 💪 Join 30K salespeople and sales leaders in our growing newsletter community here https://buff.ly/45Qb1ug #Sales #CustomerService #Motivation #Empathy #ProblemSolving

First-time VP of Sales reporting to a CEO? Three simple things to learn: 1.) Admit your mistakes. CEOs make more. They get it. 2.) End excuses. They never help. 3.) When you bring up a problem, make sure you also bring a solution. Follow these and you'll be better than your average VP of Sales.
