I usually don't share things like this but two weeks ago I screened a candidate who I felt was misrepresenting themselves / impersonating someone else. They went on video but something felt off. Today, a different person got back to me (about the same opportunity) and low and behold it was the same person on video impersonating someone else. These are wild times we live in when scam artists can infiltrate the talent market so prevalently.
Unfortunately we hired someone during the pandemic that it seemed also did the same thing. They were using a fraudulent resume & wasn’t the person who we interviewed. We realized it pretty quickly on and when confronted, the person quit.
Thats wild...
I hired someone from Texas that was supposedly a project manager that had managed many AWS projects. He did answer all questions to satisfaction over a phone screening. When the person arrived at Pennsylvania to start the project I gave him a tour of it, I had written AWS on the whiteboard, and he asked me what did AWS stand for? He was fired on the spot.
What also boggles my mind is that they think that they can get away with it in the age of video....SMH
How do you know it wasn’t genai?
"He said he was a data scientist, turns out it was two kids in a trench coat!"
Is this your first time? When I first started as a recruiter I had to walk the consultant into the building their first day. A handoff from me to the hiring manager. It gave me some time to chat with the new employee. I hired a guy that was perfect in the screen. When he got to work the first day it was not the guy I talked to. Not even close. Not even the same skin tone. The guy I was looking at was NOT the same person. I called him out on it and after trying his best to lie his way through it he finally admitted he was not the first guy. His friend aces interviews for him and he gives him a kickback when/if he gets the job. His goal was to learn on the job once he got in. This was 10+ years ago. For jussssst a min I thought maybe I had lost my mind or dropped into an episode of the twilight zone.
Once interviewed a candidate that had an earpiece with an experienced security person telling them answers. The mic picked them up a few times fortunately.
This is happening a lot. There are groups out there trying to job stack and make a lot of money....... It's super frustrating......

1dSo wait what did the person say once he saw you again? Did he recognize you too?
