O'K, everyone, take a deep breath, and I am strongly encouraging a "non-emotional" response to this The Wall Street Journal publication, https://lnkd.in/eEWM6-_M What are the "real" costs of #healthcare? Let's stick to the nonfuzzy intangibles, just those readily measured. Once we know the "costs," it's easier to determine the appropriate charges. Eric Bricker, MD Ge Bai Vinod Dasa MD Ira Kirschenbaum MD James Amis, M.D. Also, please take a WAG on my last poll, where I'm asking for the costs of the uncompensated post-operative visits that no one likes, to remove sutures and staples. #healthcareeconomics

Healthcare is so expensive precisely because of the "health systems" - which are really glorified hospital management companies. Price and cost are distinctly different animals. Most US hospitals are unable to provide clarity on either (other than the requisite "its costing us more to provide the same care so we have to lay off another cadre of nurses to maintain our bottom line."). Physician groups have an opportunity to play offense here, especially with costly services like surgery and imaging through physician controlled bundles. Few ever embrace the opportunity to do so because it requires a paradigm shift from a fee-for-service mindset to an actual "defined value" mindset. (That and it takes an inordinate amount of time to actually execute. Kind of challenging to keep a full clinical schedule and then try to disrupt the established model.) The concept of understanding costs and proactively defining value should be part and parcel of modern medical education. That we are not educating future physicians on this topic is unfortunate, partially because I think it's deliberate. (Hey Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) you need to do something about this.) Medicine is a team sport, but it needs a quarterback - and the best person for that job is usually a physician. Vinod Dasa MD Uli K. Chettipally, MD., MPH. When it comes to home health care, there's a common misconception that circles around - one that we at TRU Healthcare come across quite often. MYTH: Home health care is exclusively designed for those recovering from surgery or illness and is only suitable for short-term needs. But here's the FACT: Home health care is a versatile service that vastly benefits individuals requiring both short-term and long-term care. At TRU Healthcare, we've seen countless examples that shatter this myth. From elderly patients needing daily assistance to manage chronic conditions, to young adults requiring rehabilitative therapy post-injury — home health care adapts to the unique needs of each individual. #HomeHealthCare is more than a service; it's a bridge to improved well-being for anybody who needs it, for as long as they need it. We're here to change the narrative around home health care while providing compassionate and comprehensive services to our community. Join the conversation and learn how TRU Healthcare can support you or your loved ones. ✨ Because where there’s a need for health care, there should be no room for myths. --- #HealthcareMyths #LongTermCare #PatientCare #TRUHealthcare #HealthcareIndustry

Wow. It has been a long time since I posted anything, not because nothing has been happening...rather because of too much going on. Our clients these days are motivated and undertaking whole floor makeovers - starting with the front entrance. Have a look at how much a door wrap transferred this hospital's ALC unit's (often a long term home for patients with chronic conditions) entrance into a warmer invitation to enter. This is just the start of many changes within. The reverse side of the door is an "exit diversion" designed to reduce a patient/resident's desire to exit. All credit to our client for her wonderful vision of her patient's living space. We love making our clients' vision a reality. *Also note the Welcome sign addition to side banner. #adultdaycare,#memorycare,#alzheimerscare,#dementiacare,#carehomes,#carehomeenvironments,#nursinghomes,#occupationaltherapy,#recreationaltherapy,#behavioursupports,#behaviorsupports,#behavioursupportsontario,#psychogeriatricresourceconsultants,#hospitalenvironments,#hospicecare,#hospitalalc,#ltc,#longtermcare

Your smile is more than just a reflection of happiness— it is a window into your overall health. 💡 It's fascinating how our mouth, often overlooked in discussions of overall health, holds such immense power over our circulatory system. Dr. Genz, the visionary behind The Whole Tooth, sheds light on this interconnectedness, reminding us that our oral health is not just about bright smiles but also about safeguarding our hearts. Through her practice, she pieces together all the important details, using tests, pictures, check-ups, and lifestyle info. She understands taking care of the mouth is the first step in preventing heart problems, and she is always learning more and finding new ways to help her patients!
