Ten years have surpassed since playing my last football game in the CFL.  A 14 year chapter where I had the opportunity to live out a dream. The catalyst to that dream began as a young athlete where I became fully engaged in trying to understand how to become a bigger, faster, stronger athlete. Working through a degree in Kinesiology, learning from Tudor Bompa at York U, my studies included nutrition, hydration and how the muscles worked. Through personal development, the education was applied and several years into being a Toronto Argonaut, I was labelled by the media as "The Fittest Argo". In 2011, alongside The Wiggles, we produced an in-game video promo that was played during the game with thousands of youth in attendance promoting the importance of nutrition and how it impacts your body. When you consider becoming a professional athlete (or any career for that matter), there are variables we cannot control. To become a pro athlete and to stay a pro athlete, the one variable we can control is how and what we do to our body. We control what goes in. We control whether we train with intention or just go "through the motions". I came to understand this through education and application. The results followed and is no question the key to playing over 200 games as a Toronto Argonaut and winning Two Grey Cups. Take control of your personal variables. Enter the last 10 years of life after being a pro athlete and trying to figure out the next version of "Jeff". The struggle was real. The only way to work through this challenge was to lean on my fundamentals - What were they? Family, Wellness, Go all-in and Relationships were at the top. This led to an adventure of working with several people and companies who believed in me, all in the field of physical activity and health. Then through a series of fortunate events I stumbled into Travis McDonough and Kinduct Technologies. That turned into a beautiful 8yr adventure with a great group of people from Atlantic Canada that included a family move to Halifax. Kinduct was a digital solution used by elite sport organizations to help support staff make more informed decisions. It felt like I was exactly where I needed to be. Then a new door opened. Something I've learned through these transitions was to step through the door that made me feel the most anxious. So I did .. Today, as Co-Founder and VP of Sales & BD, I am excited to introduce you to Wellnify.ai! Through gamification we are building healthier communities by sparking a love for wellness and physical activity.
