This week I'm in Leuven, Belgium at the kickoff for International Energy Agency (IEA)'s energy in buildings Annex 94. This is an international consortium developing standardised international guidance for the validation and verification of in-situ building energy performance techniques. Kestrix is excited to be invited to work with so many experts from across industry and academia to move building performance evaluation and diagnostics forwards in a global context. Thank you Richard Fitton Cliff Elwell David Allinson for your leadership on this project!

Yesterday our German team visited the BVES Bundesverband Energiespeicher Systeme e.V. Investor Summit in Berlin. The event discussed the future of Energy Storage Systems, bringing together the leading players in the industry. The Key Takeaways? 💡 The interest and relevance in large-scale battery projects is growing. This was demonstrated in the number of attendees, that was 10 times greater than in 2022! Lawmakers are under great pressure to create regulatory frameworks that allow for large-scale projects to be economically sustainable. BVES is making significant progress in advocating the industry’s needs. We are on the right track with our Battery Storage Pipeline at Copenhagen Energy, as the industry is continuously evolving, and investor interest keeps growing! We are thrilled about these developments and excited for what's ahead! 🎉

🌍 Curious where PUSH-IT is active in Europe? PUSH-IT focusses on advancing three innovative technologies for underground high-temperature heat storage: Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES), Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES) and Mine Thermal Energy Storage (MTES). The project will demonstrate the implementation of these technologies at six different sites: The first three demo-sites are: 🇳🇱 Delft - ATES 🇩🇪 Darmstadt - BTES 🇩🇪 Bochum - MTES In addition to the demo-sites, there are three ‘follower’ locations for future pilots: 🇩🇪 Berlin - ATES 🇨🇿 Litomĕřice - BTES 🇬🇧 United Downs - MTES At each site, we address specific local technical and societal challenges while actively engaging local stakeholders. Our goal? To transform our findings into scalable solutions that benefit heat storage systems across Europe. For more information on the status of each site, check our website! https://lnkd.in/ebusJdXk

Last week, Gabriel Yarce from the Sorption Technologies team joined the General Assembly of the Hycool-IT EU Project in Messina, Italy. This event was key for advancing energy-efficient ICT server room technologies under this EU-funded initiative. Sorption Technologies is proud to share its expertise in adsorption cooling and low-temperature heat recovery. We presented results for the proof-of-concept adsorption chiller specially designed for the heat recovery of ICT server rooms. With our partners, we're developing an innovative solution to integrate that use waste heat for sustainable cooling on buildings with server room, meeting the latest energy efficiency standards. The discussions were productive, focusing on refining strategies, aligning technical approaches, and exploring replicable solutions for future use. Sorption Technologies is committed to driving innovation in sustainable cooling technologies and supporting the EU's energy efficiency and environmental goals. Follow us for more updates!

🔑 At TAMU-SPE 's Carbon Capture and Storage Symposium today where Pramit Basu, global CCUS lead of GaffneyCline™ energy advisory, gave this gem when speaking about sub-surface optimization: "In whatever your specialty is, be careful of over-optimization. Not knowing the big picture could cause you to undo all of your work. Know the big picture of your work. Measure twice, cut once." ‼️🧠💡
