Highly recommend Perplexity (https://www.perplexity.ai/) if you're still using Google to search. It's been my favorite search engine for the past few months. Google is providing a fascinating case study on what happens when you "take your foot off the pedal." Over a decade ago, they were 15 years ahead of everyone in search. Many of the AI-generated results we see today were achievable by Google back then. They were so far ahead that they faced pushback for reducing website visits. Google had to slow down and wait for the world to catch up. Then they were overtaken and began to stumble, suggesting using "glue to keep the cheese on your pizza." Google was once the go-to for high-quality search results. Now, they increasingly rely on poor-quality sites like Reddit posts. They struggle to stay ahead of low-quality sites that game their search results.

  • Google's suggestion to use glue to make your cheese stick to your pizza based on an 11 yr old joke on Reddit.

Spot on analysis as usual, Matt... Good stuff. And I am not coming over to your house for pizza.

I use Perplexity a ton - I love it so much more than Google.
