Context is King. Last Friday, I took my South Wales Drive show out for a unique listen-back: we jumped in the car to monitor the show and our competitors. Why? To experience output the way our audience does - with distractions, congestion, and conversation. We often forget about the power of context. By leaving the studio bubble and immersing ourselves in the same environment as our listeners, we gain insights into what cuts through, what gets lost, and what needs tweaking. ‘Real-world’ listening gives us fresh perspectives and reinforces our commitment to delivering content that better serves our audience. Here’s to continually evolving – not just in our delivery, but also in how we save talent from the dread of the boardroom air check.
Always great to listen away from the radio station, and put yourself in a listener shoes, from how the show flows and right amount of speech and delivery etc, good work Matt Lissack
Great stuff as always Matt. I would be fascinated to hear what takeaways J+K took from it too!

4moIt's so awesome to see someone else experiencing radio like your listeners do! It should be the top of the list but many don't! Thanks for sharing and inspiring. Out of interest, is this the radio (via car play) or a podcast you are listening to? I only ask because of the 3 hour time of the show listed at the bottom.. if it's radio, I'd love to hear your strategy behind the apple car play template you've chosen ie. displaying time remaining rather than the 'live broadcast' template
