🚨 High-Risk Post Alert 🚨 Looking for work right now feels different, and I look forward to sharing some learnings once I’m on the other side. There’s a strong “brother/sisterhood” out there, sharing ideas and insights, and I’m grateful to all of you – you know who you are. As we head into the weekend, I wanted to share one observation: It’s remarkable how many organizations are positioning themselves as the “Data/AI silver bullet” and embarking on large-scale sales recruitment drives. Yet, when asked about their unique value proposition or disruptive potential, responses are often unclear – or worse, it’s left to the new hire to figure out. In my years in professional services, one thing is clear: sales success is built on a foundation of a strong proposition and real stories of value delivered. If that’s not clear from day one, salespeople will struggle, and brand integrity may be at risk. A question I prioritize is, “Who are our experts?” My role is to connect them with prospective clients and let their expertise shine. Forward-thinking organizations – especially some of the boutiques – understand the importance of this talent foundation. That’s the credibility quotient necessary for any successful sale or delivery. I was fortunate to have extensive delivery experience before transitioning to sales and that keeps me grounded. 📊 Market Update: A Shift in Momentum This week, I've noticed a significant change in the market. Existing clients who were previously on pause are now actively interviewing and moving quickly to hire, bringing a real sense of urgency. The general consensus seems to be: "The market is what it is—but it’s time to move forward and hire". For many, this means hiring experienced sales professionals to start in January, while others are preparing now for a career change in the new year. Interestingly, we're seeing an increase in companies outside the UK eager to expand into the UK market by hiring locally-based talent. What are you doing wrong? As we close out the year, I've been seeing a shift in hiring trends across South Yorkshire. Top roles are emerging in areas such as customer service, administrative support, and sales management. But the most in-demand skill right now? Adaptability.
