🔄 Pan-European exercise to foster preparedness in case of large-scale cyber attacks in energy sector The European Commission has participated in "Cyber Europe," a comprehensive exercise aimed at testing the preparedness for large-scale cyber-attacks on Europe’s energy sector. 🌍💻 This exercise, involving 30 national cybersecurity agencies, various EU bodies, and over 1'000 experts, focused on enhancing coordination, cooperation, and crisis management skills. The goal was to assess and improve the resilience of the energy sector against cyber threats. Key statements from EU Commissioners: Thierry Breton, Commissioner for Internal Market: “Cybersecurity is a common priority. With over 200 reported cyber incidents targeting the energy sector in 2023, this exercise is crucial for testing our resilience and protecting EU citizens.” Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Energy: “As cyber threats evolve, prioritizing cybersecurity exercises is essential. These measures not only enhance our readiness but also demonstrate our commitment to safeguarding our systems, especially with the rise of smart grids.” An analysis report will follow, providing guidance to strengthen the EU energy sector's resilience.
