One of the world's best SaaS Co's lost $15,000,000,000 in value last week. Snowflake CEO Frank Slootman has announced he's retiring. That caused the market to freak - wiping 19% off the company's value in a matter of minutes. Looking at the metrics -Snowflake's performance has been phenomenal over the last few years. In the last few years they've - Grown ARR by 307% - Reduced CAC Payback from 30 months down to 12 - Have a $2.04 Magic Number - Increased ACV 79% Last year they generated $810,000,000 in free cashflow. Don't get me wrong Frank Slootman is a legend, but does the change in CEO justify a reduction in ARR multiple from 25X down to 20X? Maybe - we'll see over the next few quarters.
People don't always invest in growing companies but their leaders. Someone who spent a substantial time in the firm and is quite a known face.
Wow, that's crazy. If that doesn't boost his ego in retirement I don't know what will!
