The local economy has an extremely tight labour market meaning when employers are recruiting, they need to expand their search to attract untapped talent pools. This has the advantage of diversifying workforces and the greater the diversity, the more unique ideas and perspectives can be brought to different problems. 23rd – 29th September is National Inclusion Week (link in the comments) and I'm really proud that I have been able to assemble an incredible group of experts and practitioners to deliver the next Skills Webinar as part of the LSIP Project for Surrey & Mid North Hampshire. This webinar on 25 September, 9am - 9.45am, will focus on Neurodiversity and will welcome practitioners and experts from across Surrey and Hampshire who will discuss neurodiversity in the workplace and give practical examples of how to attract and support neurodiverse candidates. Book your place now: https://lnkd.in/ebu_3KhK The webinar will cover key topics including: > Why companies need to broaden their talent pool by hiring in this area > How schools, colleges and other organisations are working with businesses to support the employability of neurodiverse individuals > Examples of individuals who have made successful moves into employment The theme for National Inclusion Week 2024 is ‘Impact Matters’. Every one of us holds the potential to make a profound and positive impact and this webinar will help you and your organisation identify some of the different ways you can take action to make a change that matters. And fill some skills gaps! Today, I had the privilege of attending an inspiring Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion roundtable with Katherine Lord. Our discussions centered on attracting and retaining diverse talent, covering key topics such as: Disabilities: Emphasising the need for inclusive hiring practices and workplace accommodations. Women in Tech/Data/Finance: Strategies to support and advance. Diverse Interview Panels: Ensuring our interview processes reflect the diversity we seek in our teams. Apprenticeship schemes: capturing diverse talent early from students from schools’/collages and not just grads! Not everyone needs a degree to be successful. Dedicated D&I Leads: Essential for driving initiatives. Flexible Working: Adapting to varied employee needs. Leadership Programs: Not just for emerging leaders. What are we doing with people in the middle of their career? We delved into demonstrating support for these groups both internally and on LinkedIn, highlighting education and collaboration being a crucial factor in advancing diversity and inclusion within our organisations. Which Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion networking groups are important to you? Collaborating and sharing knowledge is key to driving meaningful change together. #DiversityandInclusion #Equality #Networking #DunandBradstreet

🌈 Embracing Diversity and Inclusion in Education: Fostering Equitable Learning Environments! 🌟 In the rich tapestry of education, diversity isn't just a buzzword - it's an essential thread that weaves together experiences, perspectives, and ideas. That's why I want to take a moment to highlight the immense value of diversity and inclusion within awarding and end-point awarding organisations. 🌍💬 By embracing diversity, we create learning spaces where every voice matters and every perspective enriches the educational journey. Here are a few ways to champion diversity and inclusion: 1. Inclusive Curricula: Infuse curricula with diverse voices, cultures, and histories, offering students a well-rounded education that reflects the world they inhabit. 2. Equity Initiatives: Share initiatives that break down barriers, such as scholarships, mentorship programs, and resources for underrepresented groups. 3. Cultivating Empathy: Encourage open dialogues that nurture empathy and understanding among students, preparing them for global citizenship. 4. Celebrating Differences: Spotlight success stories of individuals who've overcome challenges, inspiring students and showcasing the power of resilience. 5. Professional Development: Provide training for educators on culturally responsive teaching methods that empower all students to thrive. If you agree that having a diverse and inclusive awarding / end-point awarding organisation is important and comes with many benefits, and you want to learn more about how you can attract a diverse pool of applicants to your vacancies, reach out! TPP regularly advise on inclusive recruitment practices and we are more than happy to help! #Diversity starts from the ground up, especially with the younger generation. The #younger generation that’s out there, they are our future. It’s important for us to bring in a diverse group of candidates, supervisors, and leaders. We need to hear diverse views from people who have a seat at the table to help drive decision-making and provide insight on the direction of @ODW. The #Emerge Program is in place to ensure that each recent grad in the program has an equal chance to thrive and contribute meaningfully to our team. It's about fostering an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued and empowered in what they bring to their role at ODW. I sat on an international staff for 3 years with people coming from all over the world. Getting to hear such diverse views taught me a lot. One such lesson is the importance of having diversity on staff. #DiversityandInclusion #WorkplaceCulture #TeamDevelopment

September was all about inclusion and development at One Stop! 👉 We shared our five focus areas for our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy. These represent a promise of our ambition and commitment to creating a culture where Everyone's Welcome. It's important to us that the work that happens underneath these focus areas represents what matters most to you. 1. Inclusion for All 2. Accessible first 3. Flexibility for all 4. Transform Recruitment 5. Stronger Starts for Young People 👉 We celebrated National Inclusion Week with a variety of events across the business, including an inspiring live colleague career stories talk, where three of our colleagues talked about their careers and explained how inclusion has impacted them, and what it means to them. 💚 👉 This month, delegates of our Diverse Talent Community, which helps under-represented groups gain access to consistent support and visibility, completed module 2 which was a face-to-face event "Building your Network" at our Head Office. Delegates got to understand the importance of a diverse strategic network, articulate gaps in their current network and be clear on what they offer, identify what will help build their network and what gets in the way. 🤝 #InclusionMatters #Diversity #NationalInclusionWeek #Development #SeptemberRecap

Mentorship and Sponsorship Programs Unlock Career Growth for Under-represented Talent. Advancing diversity and inclusion requires strategic mentorship and sponsorship programs. These powerful initiatives provide guidance, advocacy, and real opportunities for underrepresented professionals. Mentorship offers personalized career advice and support, while sponsorship ensures talents are recognized through active advocacy. For underrepresented groups facing systemic barriers, mentors with shared backgrounds provide invaluable insights. Sponsors amplify voices, recommend protégés for promotions, and drive visibility. By investing in tailored mentorship and sponsorship, companies advance DEI, unlock innovation through diverse perspectives, and create equitable pathways for underrepresented talent to thrive.
