New chapter in the Foundations of LIDT textbook with Heather Leary. This is an updated chapter by Lloyd Rieber at the University of Georgia on "The Proper Training" for people in our field. This is a perfect chapter to give to a new student who isn't sure if they "fit in" with our field because they feel they don't have "the proper background." As Lloyd shows, there isn't really one proper way to become an instructional designer. https://lnkd.in/gBgkcEYC

It's true--on so many levels faculty need support and guidance for SMART online design. Don't leave them hanging. It's not an academic freedom thing...it's designing for success. Faculty will still be applying their knowledge and expertise but in ways that make sense for online learners. Little will they realize that it will also help them focus more on what they enjoy-teaching. Don't leave your faculty created courses a mess.... #instructionaldesignhelp #onlinelearning #highereducation
More faculty are asked to create online, in-person, and hybrid versions of each class. Instructional designers can save time while upping engagement and accessibility so faculty can focus on teaching. https://bit.ly/3pACcsp

She is one of the leading voices on reading science meeting instructional design. Today, she put a great piece out on a common myth regarding Tier I instruction. "When your screening and diagnostic data reveal a wide range of word recognition skills, it doesn’t make sense to have only whole group Tier 1 instruction. In this context, it makes sense to differentiate Tier 1 from the start." https://lnkd.in/ggctqTVF
