Tinder, Hinge, Bumble Inc. and Grindr said they are building or testing #AI tools and #chatbot assistants to do everything, 😉 from generate icebreakers and building profiles to providing feedback on user flirting. 😎 A survey by OnePoll found that more than three quarters of #dating app users had experienced burnout, with 40% of them blaming their exhaustion on repeated failures to find a good match. 🙁 The endpoint of all this is about turning #love into an efficient matchmaking activity rather than an unpredictable turn of destiny. 🙄 But I don’t think that’s possible... #marketing #digitalmarketing #management #artificialintelligence #bots #chatbots #technology #innovation #tech #apps

Is flirting on a dating app a "pain point" to solve in the romance journey? According to the FT, Tinder, Hinge, Bumble and Grindr are racing to create #chatbots that can coach #GenZ users to flirt. ⛈ Dating apps have difficulties in maintaining the interest of their users and #GenAI can be used to make interactions easier (the chatbot generates icebreakers and provides feedback on user flirting). 🗻 Grindr's CEO sees conversations as a "pain point" for the users and offers to solve it through automating questions and answers. Even more, “The idea of a chatbot talking to someone else’s chatbot, is something that’s worth exploring". 🤔 When we see what automation has done to sales and marketing on LinkedIn, it seems quite a challenge to imagine it would be beneficial for building relationships. One day our chatbot will stop a relationship we didn't know we had entered into. The FT article: https://lnkd.in/eaJQ2jDX

It's not just about swiping left and right - Bumble has definitely redefined its dating approach by providing a more interactive and empowering user experience. Here's how they do it - ✨Conversation prompts - With chat very much forming the core product experience, Bumble aptly pushes the boundaries of chat by bringing in intuitive prompts that are tailor-made for each user profile to initiate engaging conversations. Furthermore, users have the freedom to create their own prompts, adding a personal flair to their conversations. An innovative feature in this is the 'response reveal' mechanism, where responses remain hidden until both users have replied. ✨Compliment - The 'Compliments' feature allows users to send respectful messages, setting a positive tone for connection. ✨Speed Dating - This unique 'Speed Dating' feature significantly impacts its chat User Interface (UI) by emphasizing personality and conversation chemistry over appearances, with a timer in the chat marking the session's duration. Post conversation, if mutual interest is expressed, photos are revealed within the same chat interface. These strategic design choices reflect Bumble's commitment to fostering meaningful connections, making chat engagement an integral part of the app's appeal. If you aim to create meaningful and interactive user experience, Bumble's strategy definitely offers valuable insights to learn from!

💔 Dating apps have gotten so bad that speed dating is in again. “There hasn’t been any major innovation in dating apps since the heady days of Tinder and Bumble. With a user experience marked by fatigue and saturated with similar variations on a common theme, the market is ripe for disruption. Savvy businesses are tapping into the resurgence of early 2000s trends and a rise in desire for new ways of connection,” says Zoe Bishop, Chief Marketing Officer at Designit. To stay competitive, brands now must factor in human needs – think upskilling, problem-solving, empathy, and AI skills – that will become critical as emerging tech and AI change the future of work,” says Kathryn Orr, Director of Brand Strategy at Designit. "What happens when the use of publicly available generative AI tools becomes table stakes? Brands will need to rethink their approach and find new ways to differentiate themselves. Those who leverage it to evaluate strategic alternatives and pursue many ideas at once will have a considerable advantage,” says Jonathan Kahan, Strategic Design Director at Designit. How former CEO of Tinder is trying to tackle loneliness via #AI #chatbot app. With loneliness on the rise how will a #chatbot be able to help people connect with others. Isn’t real life interaction the only way to tackle loneliness instead of more screentime.

After a decade of the ‘swipe to match’ interface, dating apps soon might be disrupted by a new 'form factor' for matchmaking 💞 💁♀️ AI concierges Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of Bumble Inc. outlined this vision at the Bloomberg Tech Summit last week. She described a world where you can tell your AI concierge what you’re looking for in a romantic partner. You can share your interests, insecurities, and icks. Perhaps (and this is me conjecturing) you could even allow your concierge to learn about you using your social media posts, private text conversations, or journal entries. This dating concierge would go on ‘dates’ with other people’s dating concierges, and present a shortlist of people it thinks you would be highly compatible with - distilling all of San Francisco's bachelors and bachelorettes to the top three prospects. What are the implications of dating apps moving towards this new form factor? Hopefully, it generates higher quality matches! Ones that go beyond appearance and initial impressions, but drives matches off the foundational building blocks of lasting relationships - shared interests, values, and visions for life. It could also change the way dating platforms compete. Perhaps platforms will differentiate themselves based on how they’ve trained, engineered, and orchestrated their models. Different apps may use different methodologies to create the shortlist. Some apps could simulate hundreds of standard first dates. Another could maroon the AI concierges on a desert island and see how well they collaborate. Maybe others will allow you to simulate a whole life with someone, and generate a holistic happiness score (although the compute required to simulate this in high fidelity would be enormous!) The privacy, security, and ethical considerations raised are significant. Would you trust a dating app with a 'concierge' version of yourself? What if there’s a data breach, and your ‘copy’ is stolen? Do these ‘concierges’ have any semblance of consciousness? Is it ethical to subject them to 1000 bad dates just so you can have a good one? Anyway, would you use a dating app that used AI concierges? And what 'dating scenario' would you like to simulate? I’d love to know in comments! #datingapps #ai #aiconcierge #startups
