The commercial gaming industry continues to experience record growth, with recent sports wagering expansion playing a key role. While Georgia is not yet a part of that trend, its regulated skill-gaming market also set records this spring. March of 2024 saw high-water marks for handle and player redemption, meaning the amount of money played and value of player winnings, respectively. It also was a top-five month for operator revenue and Georgia Lottery Corporation collections. State-by-state comparisons, even between gambling states, are imperfect but still can help contextualize these large numbers. For example, in March 2024, Georgia saw about $491 million paid into its legal skill games. At the same time, legal sports betting wagers totaled about $457 million in North Carolina and $472 million in Tennessee. March Madness, or just another month in the ever-evolving world of gaming?

Interesting month of real-money online gaming data (NJ & MI reported) for the connectivity between Sports Betting and iGaming. As most know, October was a very 'customer friendly' month with NFL results skewing toward the favorites. This resulted in a low hold month for sportsbooks. But what did that extra money in customers accounts do....generate significant growth in iGaming (NJ: +28%, MI: +38%). In MI, it was the highest growth rate since April 2022. I'd be fascinating to see data from operators on the cross-sell effects when sports bettors win more. Clearly, there is some correlation between winning more sports bets resulting in some 'double down' effect on increasing play on casino games with more funds available to players.

There is so much money in sports betting that games are corruptible. Here is how you can bet, become active, or remain passive, and watch your fortunes evolving over time, round after round until winners are celebrated. And it is impossible to corrupt because the sum action of the players themselves is what counts. Send me a note if you wish to try it out: [email protected]
