When young people receive the right support, they can build a promising career and succeed in any field. 💪 Bayden was struggling to stay focused at school, but soon discovered an opportunity where he could earn a qualification and an income at the same time through an apprenticeship program. After successfully completing a trial with Garuttis Cabinet-Making, Bayden received an offer to become an apprentice and pursue a career in carpentry. Our Apprenticeship Consultant from Queensland, Danielle Raisbeck, recently met with both parties to finalise the sign-up process and connect Bayden with our local Career and Mentoring Specialist, Shanau Cowan. Shanau is now supporting Bayden through our Mas Achieve program, helping him to stay on track with his training and studies, ensuring he successfully completes his apprenticeship and becomes a qualified tradesperson. Mas Achieve is more than just a support program; it’s a dedicated team of mentors committed to your success. It offers guidance, support, coaching and connections that are essentials for success. Whether through video calls, in-person meetings, or phone check-ins, we ensure you are supported and connected at every stage. An example of how apprenticeships can be used by anyone to change career and gain the skills and knowledge required. https://lnkd.in/eFNDQiie This article may at first, seem to fit the stereotype of an apprenticeship, construction skills, and the typical smiling white male in a hi-vis and hard hat. However, it does convey apprenticeships in 2024. Callum is 33, and has changed career from being a personal trainer. Barret is a national housebuilder using York College as its apprenticeship training provider. Callum lives in Bury but is working on a development in Leyland, Lancashire. Apprenticeships are available for anyone! Age, existing staff member, new recruit, none of this is relevant for an apprenticeship. Your local college is not the only option as your training provider. There are over 1,800 training providers in England and you are free to choose the provider that best suits you and your apprentice. Apprenticeships do not have to be delivered on a traditional day or block release model. Hybrid delivery or in-the-workplace delivery options are available for most apprenticeships. What this article doesn't convey is the huge variety of available apprenticeships. Science, Law, Finance, Retail, HR, Procurement, Leadership apprenticeships are available. There are seven hundred different apprenticeships at six different levels (entry through to post-graduate). For impartial advice on apprenticeships and how they can be the toolkit to recruit and develop your workforce, get in touch with The Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub #Lancashire #Apprenticeships Lancashire Skills Pledge

For #NationalApprenticeWeek #CelebrationFriday, we want to take the time to share a brief interview we had with one of our current bricklaying apprentices - Louis 🧱🦺 DBR: What made you choose an apprenticeship in the conservation sector? Louis: I had a personal interest in historic architecture, therefore pursuing a career in masonry restoration and conservation was an ideal opportunity for me. DBR: What is the specialism of your apprenticeship? Louis: Brickwork apprenticeship. And Crystal Palace is the ideal environment for enhancing my bricklaying skills. DBR: What was your route into the apprenticeship, was there an assessment etc? Louis: I carried out 2nr years of brickwork at Bromley College, upon completion of this, I contacted the apprenticeship team at London Southeast colleges. Luckily, they were able to appoint me to DBR! DBR: What's your day-to-day like on the Crystal Palace site? Louis: Attend site, undertake daily activity briefings with charge hand. Organise material for bricklayers to ensure they have material for the day. I have been progressing into building up of backing and facing brickwork as well as learning how to set out formwork for arches and their subsequently their construction. DBR: What's the most valuable skill you've learned? Louis: Organisation and planning the days / weeks activity prior to carrying it out - super beneficial. DBR: Do you have any advice for would-be apprentices? Louis: Just jump into it! Take the opportunity to join the industry. DBR: What are your views on schemes like National Apprenticeship Week? Louis: National apprenticeship week is great for young people like me to start a career, demonstrate that there are opportunities out there and allow us to make valuable connections with companies like DBR. #dbr #pasthasafuture #skillsforlife #apprentice #apprenticeships #craftskills #heritagetrades #conservation #ukworkforce
