I love credit unions because they partner to expand financial inclusion and build stronger communities. Below is an example of how 6 Illinois credit unions are partnering with the Illinois Credit Union League, Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and SBA to empower small businesses and develop communities. #Ilovemycreditunion #Illinoiscreditunionleague

Two new features/perspectives that I hope you'll find worth your time: * With the future of overdrafts in question, including potentially disappearing at some point, credit unions should be opening their strategic playbooks now and looking at their options, says one expert, who adds that CUSO partnerships need to be near the top of the list. Story here: https://lnkd.in/e_5nFTRu * The African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) has entered into the second phase of its Future Fund campaign, and the organization says that in addition to driving programs that address the racial wealth gap, the effort will also support small credit unions in an area critical to their ongoing success—succession planning. CoBank would be very well served Thomas Halverson to have an innovator like Scott Hendrix on your board. Many cooperative leaders “talk” mission, purpose and community. I see Scott and his team exemplify what it means to be a cooperative team with a mission and purpose centered on the communities they serve every single day. He has led the Tombigbee EPA organization to innovate and radically transform their community by partnering and pushing our company - Calix to improve so that his team can lead. As this is a bank discussion - they were cash flow positive in a record 2 years (7 years is the norm), massively profitable in the 3rd year (normally ~10 yrs) and grew at an insane pace against an entrenched competitor with record satisfaction - 92NPS. Now that financial metrics are aside - the how comes out. Their leadership purpose with Scott at the front. Every community member is protected. They started there - stopping malware, phishing and viruses for ALL members. Why? Because it is right. Then they launched cyber bullying and parental support to protect children with Bark. Walk the walk. Put the community first - every member. Old and young - the vulnerable. Making everyone safer …. BETTER. Because it is the right thing to do - FAST - for the community. No debate. Got it done. Then he pushed to deploy SmartTown Wi-Fi everywhere. Why? Because he wanted first responders, sports fields, downtown and students connected. Now. A first responder asked - Why doesn’t every community CEO do this for their first responders? If the community is first - it is a mystifying list of why nots versus setting the community first and getting it done while partnering to resolve issues. Scott and his team pushed through first - and did what others can now see needs to get done. Next - he prioritized small businesses which do not have complex IT teams. Now every small business in their communities are truly secure from phishing and malware attacks for the first time - at a time when evil nation states like Russia and N Korea are attacking the vulnerable lifeblood of communities - the small business. NO MORE. Got it done. At every turn he pushes to make the community better. Purpose takes action with Scott - every day. I can think of no better candidate than Scott Hendrix for their board to bring the voice of rural America.

This goes back to money recirculating in our community. Black businesses have always helped maintained Black communities. The loss of these businesses have helped to the degradation of our neighborhoods. We have to get back to basics and get away from name brands and make a name for ourselves. https://lnkd.in/gdSms6WK #business #blackhistorymonth #blackownedbusinesses #generationalassets #moneycirculating
