We don't feature gate at KnowledgeOwl. I was chatting with other SaaS CEOs about how much they can and do charge for SSO. Many only include it on their Enterprise/top pricing tier, while others charge for it as an add-on to the tune of $5k/year. We have one plan with all features starting at $100/month. And that includes SSO. Are we leaving money on the table? Signs point to absolutely. Does it make life better for both us and our customers? I like to think so. This might be one of those silly decisions I will rethink and change course on down the line, but I'm currently holding fast on our pricing being a competitive differentiator. And to be clear, we aren't doing it just to be different and compete on pricing. I like when software companies have straightforward, simple pricing. So that's what we aim to do. It's the platinum rule applied to business: Do unto others as you would want done unto you :)

Competition is for losers. If you feel that you are in a commoditized market and it's hard for you to differentiate yourself from other people, then you are playing the game wrong. I am spending my time these days understanding how any business can differentiate from others. So far, I found that these 2 base variables will help you to differentiate yourself from others. 1. Your offer. 2. Your Point Of View. Number 1 is self-explanatory but number 2 is the way you are putting yourself out in the market. There are 1000s of Software businesses, 1000s of Consultants, 1000s of Saas companies... What is the different point of view(POV), your business bringing in the market? If you do not work on your POV, you will eventually put yourself in the race with competition.

We hate to break it to you, but SaaS is dead! 🪦 The model of software is broken and the inability to have them tailored to meet business needs without expensive third-party engagements, professional service agreements, or weeks spent on Youtube trying to self-serve is ludicrous! In today's blog post, we'll dive into the 5 reasons to invest in "Software as a Partner", instead of "Software as a Service". Link to full article in the comments!
