Financing for green infrastructure is a critical part of how we fully realize a decarbonized built environment. Many might think that early adoption for technologies like aquifer thermal energy storage hinges on technical readiness. But this solution has already been implemented a thousand times in Europe. Proving that we need smart financing tools, like a green bank, to bridge the gap for systems change. Making it easier for developers, utilities, and other adopters to pivot to the next generation of technology solutions. Congrats to all the partners involved in the Heights. Did you know Minnesota has a green bank? Well, it's full name is the Minnesota Climate Innovation Finance Authority or MNCIFA. It was launched in 2023 to accelerate the deployment of clean energy projects across the state, starting with an $11 million pool. By the end of 2024, it will access another $34 million after the strategic plan is established. Let's wrap up National Infrastructure Week by unwrapping the definition of a Green Bank. The first Green Bank was established in 2011 as the Connecticut Green Bank. Since then, more Green Banks have been established including Groundswell Capital, Arizona's first Green Bank, an affiliate of the Tucson Industrial Development Authority, and a member of the Coalition for Green Capital.
