🎉 Happy International Women's Day! 🌟 Today, we celebrate the incredible achievements of women in engineering and beyond. 🚀 From Ada Lovelace, the world's first computer programmer, to today's groundbreaking innovators, women have played instrumental roles in shaping the field. 💪 As we honor this day, let's also recognise the importance of fostering support and mentorship within the engineering industry. Research shows that diverse teams drive innovation and problem-solving. By championing women in engineering and providing them with the support they need to thrive, we unlock untapped potential and pave the way for a more inclusive and dynamic future. 🌈 Together with Aimee Jones and Abigail Owolabi we created a video showcasing our journey from apprentices to conference attendees, lead speakers, and award recipients. Empowering our daughters is essential for building a more equitable and inclusive society. Here are some ways to support and empower them: 1. Encourage Education: Support their educational pursuits and inspire a love for learning. Education opens doors to numerous opportunities. 2. Promote Self-Confidence: Help them build self-esteem by acknowledging their achievements, encouraging their interests, and supporting their ambitions. 3. Teach Critical Thinking: Encourage them to ask questions, think independently, and make informed decisions. 4. Foster Independence:Provide opportunities for them to take on responsibilities and make choices, helping them to become self-reliant. 5. Advocate for Equality: Teach them about gender equality and their rights. Stand against discrimination and ensure they understand the importance of equality. 6. Provide Role Models: Introduce them to strong, successful women from various fields who can serve as role models. 7. Encourage Participation in STEM: Support their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, fields where women are traditionally underrepresented. 8. Promote Healthy Relationships: Teach them about respect, consent, and the importance of healthy relationships. 9. Support Emotional Well-being: Be attentive to their emotional needs, provide a supportive environment, and encourage open communication about their feelings and challenges. 10. Involve Them in Decision-Making: Include them in family decisions and discussions to help them understand the value of their opinions and contributions. Empowering daughters helps them to grow into confident, capable women who can contribute positively to society.

Empowering Tomorrow's Innovators: Girls'Day @ MAHLE!   Why do we still need a Girls'Day? Let's take a look at the current dynamic: out of 40 CEOs in Germany, only 1 is a woman (Handelsblatt 2023)! This reality underscores the ongoing need for gender equality across all levels of leadership and professions. The Girls'Day is designed to provide insights into job fields, where women are still significantly underrepresented.   At MAHLE, we hosted nearly 70 students on that day to delve into technical professions and foster development opportunities in STEM fields at our locations in Stuttgart, Mühlacker, and St. Michael.   For me personally, sharing my own journey and providing tips and tricks on how to step into jobs that society until today tells us are made for boys and men is my duty. Paving the way for many other girls to follow is the reason why Girls'Day is so dear to my heart. In Stuttgart, 46 girls had the chance to test their craftsmanship in our training workshop. They engaged in conversations with young female engineers, gaining insights into STEM careers and everyday work in technical professions.   The takeaways from our Girls'Day event are clear: By empowering and immersing young girls in STEM, we equip them for the future. It’s on all of us – especially those in the more senior positions – to show our youngest that everything is possible. As long as they dare to do it.   #GirlsDay #MAHLE #STEM

March 8 is #InternationalWomensDay, a global day of unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy, and action. It is an occasion to raise awareness of the progress made towards achieving gender equality—and the work remaining to be done. On this #IWD2024, and as we prepare for our #30by30 Conference coming up in May, we’re reflecting on the first decade of 30 by 30: the progress achieved towards greater #genderequity in #engineering, and the work we still have to do. Women still comprise only 19.2 per cent of newly licensed #engineers, and only 15 per cent of the engineering profession as a whole. Now is the time to unite the engineering community—regulators, higher educations institutions, employers—to refocus our efforts and create meaningful change to advance gender equity in engineering. It is with this in mind that Engineers Canada designed this year’s 30 by 30 Conference with its theme of Turning Knowledge into Action for Gender Equity in Engineering. We will take the research and lessons learned over the past ten years of 30 by 30, and turn them into action to accelerate progress towards our goals. Since 1911, International Women's Day has been celebrated to promote awareness of women's rights and gender equality worldwide. This year's theme #InspireInclusion resonates deeply with us at TI, as inclusion is a core value for us. In Germany, only 16% of electrical engineering students are women, and just 38% of female STEM graduates immediately enter careers in these fields. To address this, we heavily invest in nurturing future female innovators through STEM education. However, we recognise that challenges extend beyond universities. That's why we support national and local STEM initiatives like Girls' Day, empowering STEM enthusiasts to create and innovate. Additionally, we take pride in supporting initiatives like BayFiD (Bavaria's Women in Digital Professions), aiding young women aged 18 to 30 in pursuing digital careers, along with the AmCham Female Founders Award. Promoting inclusion is a personal commitment for me, and I'm happy to contribute to a more diverse industry via TI. #TIEmployee #iwd2024 #womeninstem #inspireinclusion

Today is International Women's Day, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness and take action for gender equality in our industry. 🙌 I shared a post a few months back detailing some recent findings through research by Engineers Australia, highlighting key areas that need to be addressed to improve female participation within Engineering: - The main reason women don’t study engineering is lack of familiarity (there is little awareness of what engineering involves). 🤔 - A lack of positive perception (Engineering is seen as male-dominated and not impactful or fulfilling). 😒 - At university, students feel less supported to do well in their studies when compared to other degrees. 😳 - There are still significant issues for women with workplace culture and unequal opportunities. 😔 - Poor engagement of STEM with girls throughout schooling. 😖 These factors are not only disappointing, but detrimental to the diversity, quality, and innovation of the engineering profession, proving we still have more to do! Today I want to celebrate the women in my own network, who inspire me every day with their passion, creativity and resilience. You are the leaders, mentors, role models and friends that make this world a better place. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and courage. In celebration of the International Women's Month, discover below Leaders League Brasil interview with Juliana Duarte, Director of Escola Eduque, about women's empowerment and gender equality in the education sector. Leaders League: How does Grupo Eduque promote gender diversity in its internal policies and practices among its employees? Basic Education consists of a large number of female professionals. Eduque maintains respect and the promotion of gender equality as a core value in all its activities and actions. In our communications, we have adopted the use of terms in both masculine and feminine genders, career policies are based on meritocracy, and there is no salary difference between genders. The study groups, sharing of practices, and ongoing training for professionals and leaders that we promote, encourage the positioning of diverse and independent ideas and opinions, in addition to the appreciation and empowerment of women. Leaders League: And among the students, how do academic programs address issues of women's empowerment and gender equality? The Eduque school develops projects and campaigns that work to combat patriarchal culture, prejudices, and inferiority. Some examples include discussion circles about women's rights, the appreciation of literature and female artists, research, gathering of historical data, and campaigns for mobilization and reflection. Without a doubt, we have a long way to go, but it is evident that a sense of empathetic sensitivity is awakening in the new generations, expressed in multiple forms. These occur from communication with nomenclature, respectful actions, elimination of any offensive approach, stereotypes, and the promotion of equal opportunities, in the numerous school activities whether they are academic, sports, and cultural. Leaders League: What is the role of education in building gender equality beyond the classroom? The school should constitute a natural forum for dialogue and reflection on diversity and gender equality. The fight against inequality and violence against women is a complex process of multifactorial causes and must necessarily be addressed by education. In the example of violence, which is also a public health issue, the school works by presenting current legislation, promoting open dialogues, and actions of welcoming the questions of both male and female students. Leaders League: What are the main challenges and specifics for women working in the education sector? The challenges are similar to those in other sectors, but I understand that in the educational environment, we have a clear understanding of the urgent need to maintain dialogue in promoting correct concepts. Actions are consistent in building a culture of promoting equality and peace.
