If you aren't a lawyer, chat-gpt doesn't make you one. No, you shouldn't ask it to write a contract for you. It can't speak legalese. Stop. It.

I had a new paralegal prepare a draft document that referenced cases that didn't exist and incorrectly quoted statutes I knew very well didn't state what was in the draft. It became apparent she was using chat gpt or a similar product to do her work. The product was completely useless and had to be completely redone. Thank god, I had an amazing senior paralegal to help and she did an amazing job trying to help the new paralegal learn to do better.

Agree, same goes for legal translator, except no lawyer or legal translator should be trying to speak 'legalese' either: https://dottedandcrossed.eu/what-is-legalese/

Much needed post. People come to me and say "Madam pls tailor this much. I have got the draft from chatgpt". Google and chatgpt will give an idea. Not the exact need of the client. And the irony is people will spend on luxury restaurants but not in legal.
