Product Field Testing in Patagonia: Fjällräven Classic Chile Here’s a brief summary: -Weather: Few light showers, mostly clear skies, occasional gusty winds -Temperature range: 3°C to 25°C -Terrain: smooth trail, +2700 vertical meters, 74 km. -Nights in tent: 3 1. KEB Gore-Tex Jacket ( new ePE) - used against the heaviest winds and the light rain. - great fit, big and protective hood with easy adjustment, efficient armpit vent, elastic adjustment in hem didn't work properly (changed in final version) - I appreciate the fit and the robust but light feeling in fabric and construction. 2. KEB Gore-Tex Trousers (new ePE) - only used first evening and second morning. - great fit, long side zip makes it easy to put on, velcro adjustment on calf gives a tight leg profile. - I really appreciate the adjustment of waist and the elastic cord in leg ending. 3. KEB Wind Jacket Winter - Used in night camps, breaks and beginning and end of trek when windy or when I got cold after being sweaty during the day. - very soft, light and wind resistant shell fabric and super comfy inside of high loft fleece both in body and arms. (almost addictive) - I consider this jacket as a very versatile product for trekking in demanding and changing weather. The hood is snug and offers warmth and wind protection. 4. KEB 2-Season Sleeping Bag (all ready in retail) - nights were quite cold, around 3-6C. I used a inflated mattress as ground insulation. I reinforced the sleeping bag with my down jacket first and last night. - I dressed in merino underwear, a light merino cap and thin merino socks while sleeping. - The bag is filled with 366 g white goose down 700-CUIN fill power. Total weight is 870 g. - I have used many sleeping bags and what stands out with this bag is the zipper slider (non snuging), the very comfortable lining and easy reach drawcord for adjustment of head opening. Also, the fit is very comfortable and the water resistant foot box, provides security in damp conditions. 5. KAJKA X-LÄTT 54L (Prototype, 3rd Edition) -It was the first time I used it but the prototype was already the third edition in field test. - Weigth Fully loaded: 12,6 kg including 0,9 liters water, a separate water filter (450g) and a multitool (240g) and one extra jacket for test and half food time food supply. - Only Backpack dry-weight: 1180 grams - very comfortable and height adjustable carrying system and frame construction in birchwood - I appreciate the lid that enables flexible packing and covers the opening, great with external back pocket for easy access. I also like the construction of hip-belt and shoulders traps that gives perfect fit and control. - Its a light, durable and very promising backpack development. A big thanks to our design and development teams, as well as our external partners and friends, for creating solutions that make outdoor experiences more comfortable and joyful. Have questions or feedback? Let me know—I’d love to hear from you.

Love the Fjällräven clothing. But... my partner and I were hiking today (in the UK, not Patagonia) and this is the result of a blackberry thorn snagging on her G-1000 jacket. 😥 Maybe need to UK test the outer-wear too!

Already read something about these samples, they look amazing. Only question i get from this: do you need testers?

Hey Martin. Did you see any other gear from other participants that made you think “shucks, wish I had brought that?” Great pics!! Patrick

I talked with Harald about undyed backpacks, because 1. They use less water in manufacturing, so they are better for the planet…but 2. You can customised it like mine 😬 Food for thought? 🎨

The best feeling is field testing products you have created and they actually work as they should!
