This 4% drop from the May SAAR was due to the recent CDK cyberattack, which caused a 50,000-unit deficit in June. Despite this setback, we're optimistic these sales will be made up in July. March sales shock for new vehicles 02 April 2024: New vehicle sales seemingly plummeted in March compared to the same month last year. But two major factors conspired against the numbers, according to WesBank. Figures released by naamsa | the Automotive Business Council saw the March new vehicle market decline 11,7% to 44,273 sales, at first glance scaring the market. But whilst the number no doubt dealt the industry a bit of a blow – year-to-date sales are now 5,3% down compared to last year – not all was lost for March sales.... Pakistan’s automobile financing plummeted by 25.82% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs246.26 billion in January 2024, from Rs331.98 billion in January 2023. naamsa | The Automotive Business Council has congratulated the appointment of the new Cabinet in the Government of National Unity [GNU] as announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 30 June 2024. naamsa said the challenge was to put narrow political differences behind and for the 7th administration to create a positive momentum and bring about tangible impact in the lives of ordinary South Africans in this new era in our country’s democratic journey. Domestic sales of new light commercial vehicles, bakkies and mini-buses at 10,552 units during June 2024 had recorded a decrease of 3,385 units, or a loss of 24,3%, from the 13,937 light commercial vehicles sold during June 2023. New vehicle sales further declined in June 2024 as South African households continued to grapple with consistent cost pressures in a weak economic environment with affordability remaining a decisive factor in new vehicle purchasing decisions. Cumulative new vehicle sales for the first six months of the year were now tracking 7,6% below the corresponding period 2023, in line with industry expectations of a taxing first half of the year.
