Exciting news from Aspen Ideas Climate today! Our Vice Chair Lauren Sánchez just unveiled a groundbreaking initiative: a $60M investment to launch the Bezos Centers for Sustainable Protein. This is a strategic move toward revolutionizing the very foundation of how we produce, consume, and perceive food in our quest to mitigate climate change. By focusing on sustainable proteins, we're tackling the dual challenge of meeting our planet's rising food demands while mitigating environmental impact. Think cheaper, tastier, and more nutritious alternatives to conventional meat that could dramatically reduce our ecological footprint. These centers signal a deep belief in the power of science and technology to drive change, aligning with the urgent need to nourish a growing global population while safeguarding our ecosystems. Our mission of scaling the regenerative movement is not slowing down… and neither is #ClimateWeekNYC! Amidst meetings and events across the city, Tuesday was particularly special in having our CEO Simon Haldrup participating in the Climate Group's Executive Series at the Hub Live. This exclusive roundtable 'Taking a byte out of carbon: How to use AI to accelerate decarbonisation', in partnership with PwC, brought together global climate heads discussing the use of AI to help corporates meet climate goals. Agreena was brought in highlighting our scalable approach leveraging remote sensing and digital measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) technology - AI supporting our regen ag impact at scale. It was also the kickoff off the three-day IETA North America Climate Summit, where Michael Bertelsen, Erica Johnson and Emilio Torres are on the ground! Yesterday was also the 'Food and Agriculture' focus day of the Consulate General of Denmark In New York's Sustainability Summit NYC in conjunction with Danish regen ag powerhouses Arla Foods and Carlsberg Group Erica participated in Arla's epic roundtable dialogues with global leaders to share key insights and collaborate on agrifood system transformation - but most of all: farmers. CCO Frederik Aagaard closed out the evening at a beautiful reception, and was particularly inspired by Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen’s speech on regen ag's role in Denmark's GHG reduction plans towards 2050, while Food Nation Denmark rolled out its '5 pathways to accelerate green food production'. To round off the night, Simon attended StepStone Group and Giant Ventures Climate Dinner, with dialogues focused on scale, while others from the team joined BeZero Carbon and Rubicon Carbon's happy hour, and EcoAct / Schneider Electric’s event on Navigating the VCM with ensured integrity and maximised ROI. And that’s all just in one day! Thank you so much to all of the hosts, partners, and teams around the city who are incorporating us into your programming and agenda. Our team are tireless in their determination to make meaningful change for our planet - not just this week, but every week. Amazing work, all. 🌱 #RegenerativeAgriculture #ClimateAction #CarbonRemovals #SustainabilitySummit2024 #ClimateWeek #FoodSystems #UNGA79

✴️ Playing Fair for a Just Transition ✴️ Join Kati Kallins and me on the latest episode of the Engaging ESG #podcast as we consider the framework and elements needed for a "just transition" — i.e., equitable regenerative economy. Key takeaways: ✔️#JustTransition seeks to build economic and political power for communities to move away from extractive systems towards sustainability. It focuses on reparations, social equity, and decentralizing production/consumption. ✔️This framework has its roots in collaboration between labor unions and environmental justice groups in communities of color. It contrasts with mainstream environmentalism by emphasizing community-based solutions. ✔️Key principles include shifting control locally, democratizing business, ecological restoration, and preserving cultures/traditions. No effort towards just transition is too small when all voices are included. Let us know your thoughts on this episode. How are you seeing companies embrace these intersections? https://bit.ly/ESG_16 #ESG #ESGCommunications #sustainability #climate #sustainablebusiness

Happy Middle of the Week day! And I'm excited to share my latest conversation on the #ClimateConfident #Podcast with Julia S., the General Manager for Carbon at EcoVadis. We unpacked how digital solutions are transforming the landscape of corporate #sustainability and the pragmatic steps businesses can take towards impactful environmental stewardship. Julia gave us a tour through EcoVadis' robust tools that not only measure but also improve sustainability practices. We discussed the nuanced dance between technology and regulation, supplier engagement, and the move from voluntary measures to mandatory, audited emissions reporting. What struck me was the emphasis on actionable data to make informed decisions and drive real change. It’s not just about collecting numbers; it’s about shaping the future of business with sustainability at its core. As we dive into the world of digital sustainability, we have to ask ourselves: Is the drive towards sustainable business practices a moral imperative or a strategic manoeuvre for future-proofing businesses? Tune in to this enlightening episode and join the dialogue. "𝘙𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦." While Earth Day was exactly one week ago, in my mind, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆. What that looks like for me? In a nutshell: On Monday (Earth Day) and Tuesday, Eliza E. and I were at a client site to present the company's carbon footprint results and work with stakeholders to further the climate action strategy. On Wednesday, I ran a workshop at my daughter’s school on corporate sustainability & the tragedy of the commons and I started work on a new client project. On Thursday, I met with the ESG council of a local tech firm and completed a proposal for a logistics company. On Friday, I attended the MIT Sustainability Summit on system change with a focus on transportation, agriculture & biodiversity and the build environment (cement). Not a conference but a self-declared ‘unconference’, driving real action. Not later but right then & there, at the conference! Key conference insights and highlights included: 🌿 We need to think about transformational economics and commit to working toward a well-being economy for all - Sandrine Dixson-Declève 🤑 ‘Always wanting more’ is embedded in our systems. But ‘you can never get enough of what you don’t really need to make you happy’. - Peter Senge 🇨🇷 Costa Rica’s amazing accomplishments where it concerns nature and the lessons we should all take from this. - Carlos Alvarado Quesada 🚛 16% of global GHG emissions stem from transportation: we need electrification as well as a move away from cars. - John Moavenzadeh 🌍 Thriving means meeting the needs of all people within the need of the living planet. - Kate Raworth 🌽 Food systems are the number one threat to nature. The price of today’s food is 1/3rd of its true cost. - Joao Campari 👥 A system is a collection of people. If you commit together to change the rules, then the system is changed. - Jason Jay Thanks to the wonderful speakers and organizers for pulling this day together and spurring everyone into action while looking through a systems lens. As per Professor John Sterman, '𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘶𝘱'. Not just on Earth Day but every day! #earthday #MIT #systemsthinking #sustainability #climateaction

What’s amazing about seeing the impressive sales growth of Mars is more that this was done within the realms of a Leadership team that is deeply committed to its sustainability & net zero plan. Not easy when sales are growing 69% to keep you eye on the commitments made but I’m so glad to see their CEO, Poul Weihrauch leading from the front - profit and purpose can do-exist. Great insights also from key leader such as Mars CSO Barry Parkin and also Amanda Davies, their VP of Global R & D, Sustainability and Commercial at Mars Snackfood US, LLC And last but not least - identifying brand that optimise and encourage smart sustainable options down the supply chain and out to it’s millions of customers and consumers - it’s a joint effort and we all have our part to play so also well done to Gulen Bengi, Lead CMO at Mars is also admirable work - so much work to do and fast but bravo to Mars!! #sustainability #committedbrands #Marssustainability
