Just in the Dutch news: The minister's concern about the rise in burnout among the under-40s, with a staggering 15% increase since last year, highlights the need for immediate and concerted action. In my experience, despite its importance, resilience is often misunderstood or overlooked in many contexts. By prioritizing mental and emotional health and implementing supportive policies and programs, the opportunity exists to create a more resilient and thriving workforce for the future. #BurnoutPrevention #MentalHealth #EmotionalHealth #WellBeing #Resilience #development https://lnkd.in/gi69x3i9

This excerpt from the Forbes article stood out for me: "Companies Can Help Isolated Workers According to the EY Belonging Barometer 3.0, 41% of respondent workers say that their workplace is where they feel the greatest sense of belonging (second to home), and yet 75% report having felt excluded at work." There's work to be done. #Belonging is a basic human need. #Inclusion is a core element, along with #engagement and #psychologicalsafety of creating workspaces and places where everyone can bring their best every day - where they can feel a complete sense of #belonging.
With the rise of remote work, loneliness has become a significant issue impacting our health and workplace performance. The U.S. Surgeon General has warned that loneliness can lead to serious health problems like cardiovascular disease, depression, and even early death. It also affects employee performance, leading to lower productivity, higher absenteeism, and increased turnover. This article shares how employers can take action by fostering connections, providing mental health resources, and promoting a sense of belonging. https://bit.ly/3ziYS55 #loneliness #belonging #BelongingintheWorkplace

Are you listening to your teams? Burnout is a very real problem, with very real consequences, for the employer, the employee, and the employees home and family life. Recent studies show up to 75% of staff have experienced, or are experiencing, burnout. This is becoming a rapidly growing problem in the community services sector, where providers are becoming increasingly focussed on 'growth' and margins - increasing client numbers and work loads, while cutting resources, and simultaneously experiencing staff shortages and a reluctance, at times, to recruit, pushing workloads onto increasingly over-burdened teams. An ageing population, increasing housing stress, carer strain, a concerning lack of temporary residential respite due to rapidly decreasing bed availability arising from the increasing demand on permanent beds, along with the increasing mental health and psychosocial issues, is putting enormous pressure on services and staff. Manageable workloads, flexible work options and a genuinely consultative and empathetic management style must prevail if we want to retain experienced, high performing teams. Are you seeing an increase in sick and personal leave? Resignations? Internal transfers? Declining productivity? Increasing uptake of EAP? Your team is telling you there's are a problem. Are you listening? Flexible work options help to reduce the strain of increasing workloads, but it's no panacea, or miracle preventative, for unmanageable workloads, poor workplace culture and burnout. #areyoulistening #burnout #toxiccultures #workplacestress #mentalhealth #dobetter #worklifebalance #meditation #knowyourvalue #takeyourbreaks

Burnout is a global crisis, with millions being invested by employers to combat it. However, these efforts often miss the mark because they address burnout when employees are already at their breaking point. Research indicates it can take up to a year to fully recover from burnout once it sets in, making reactive measures less effective. To genuinely tackle burnout, we must shift our focus to prevention. This is one of the driving forces behind BlckBx, to end burnout for professionals. We are collaborating with some of the largest employers to implement BlckBx, to alleviate their mental load, save them 3 days a month by outsourcing their life admin and give them the daily support of an assistant they can rely on to get things done. Investing in preventative measures like BlckBx is the key to sustainable workforce health. By prioritising early intervention, companies can avoid the high costs and lost productivity associated with burnout recovery. Let's work together to create healthier, happier workplaces where burnout is a thing of the past.

The average full-time worker dedicates a third of their lifetime waking hours to work. Given that fact, understanding how job design affects mental health is key to developing policies that bolster well-being. It’s clear why employers should care: When workers aren’t feeling well mentally, they’re less productive and more likely to miss work. Their creativity, collaboration and ability to meet job demands also suffer, hurting the entire organization. The impact of job-related stress extends beyond the workplace, affecting families, communities and health care systems. People grappling with work-related mental health challenges often require multiple forms of support, such as access to counseling, medication and social services. Not addressing these needs comprehensively can cause serious long-term consequences, including reduced quality of life and increased health care costs. Mental health challenges are far from rare: More than 50 million Americans, or nearly 1 in 5 adults, live with mental illness. By creating workplaces that prioritize employee well-being – through flexible work arrangements, supportive policies and access to mental health resources – organizations can help build a healthier society. #mentalhealth #employerwellbeing #jobs https://lnkd.in/eFaWTPyj

Do You Suffer Absenteeism in the Workplace? I recently shared with an executive group that Australian businesses will lose over $6.5 B per year from failing to provide early intervention/treatment for employees with mental health conditions. 》One workplace disclosed that a handful of staff regularly took a day off. The team has no idea if this is a genuine absenteeism or not. We know the pressure it causes to the rest of the team, not to forget possibly their productivity in having extra workload. 》One CEO mentioned that young people are not loyal. Is it their values, or maybe the workplace doesn’t align with what they thought their role was? Or is WFH impacted by absenteeism? 》》》If you want to keep your staff and keep them happy and still engaged, what I have seen is management going out of their way to work: - alongside their people more. It does, however, take time away from what they should be doing. Some will work after hours to go the extra mile. - building a supportive work environment - fostering open communication ☆ What if I can show you how these stats could be improved! I can present my “How To STOP Absenteeism in Your Workplace” program to show you how I can reduce your current absenteeism issues? It starts with a phone call DM me for my number #leadership #absenteeism #business #mentalhealth #whatinspiresme #health #rmhealthstylist
