When our client Santos needed to streamline their ice road construction for the Pikka Project, we collaborated to pilot our new temperature forecasting technology. The results were impressive - Santos obtained their tundra travel permit 21 days earlier than the general state opening, all while minimizing environmental impact and enhancing operational efficiency. This case study showcases how our data-driven insights can unlock new levels of success, even in the harshest conditions. Coastal hazards (e.g., #Coastal_flooding and #Coastal_erosion) are serious problems that both developed and #developing_countries suffer from. Such problems are being exacerbated because of the #ClimateChange and subsequent increase in #sea_level and more intense and frequent #storm_surges, besides the higher demand for #urbanization in #Coastal_cities for tourism and recreation purposes. Currently, I am on my way to Deltares to attend the #CoastalHazardsSymposium in #Delft, the Netherlands, as a representative of CES Consulting Engineers Salzgitter GmbH. The three-days Symposium celebrates the anniversary of the #XBeach model (15 years) and #SFINCS model (7.5 years), which are frequently used to predict coastal erosion and #flooding. On the last day of the Symposium, I am going to give a talk about one of my recent developments of #XBeach under the title "Does spatial variability of soil properties of a coastal barrier play a role in determining its breaching locations under extreme surges?".
