Paradox of Team Size - AgileLnL Most organizations assume that a team of 20 will finish a software project before a team of five. This isn't irrational, but if you look carefully at the data, you'll find a much more nuanced story. In this talk we are going to look at a study showing how team size impacts projects and discover some useful ways to think about how to propertly size a team in order to set them up for success.

Is your team stuck in inefficient workflows? Quit slapping band-aids on your broken processes. Fix them with a few simple steps. Process mapping can create a quick win for you. No expensive software package needed; just a simple whiteboard and some expo markers. Before: ◼ Endless meetings with no clear outcomes. ◼ Repetitive tasks causing delays. ◼ Miscommunications leading to errors. After: ◼ Clear visual representation of workflows. ◼ Identified redundancies and bottlenecks. ◼ Streamlined processes and improved communication. Here's how process mapping can reduce inefficiency: 1️⃣ Visual Clarity ◼ Provides a clear overview of workflows. ◼ Helps identify and eliminate unnecessary steps. 2️⃣ Enhanced Communication ◼ Ensures everyone is on the same page. ◼ Reduces miscommunication and errors. 3️⃣ Improved Efficiency ◼ Streamlines processes to save time and resources. ◼ Boosts overall productivity and morale. 4️⃣ Better Resource Allocation ◼ Identifies critical steps needing more focus. ◼ Optimizes use of personnel and tools. Implementing process mapping can quickly highlight inefficiencies and offer tangible improvements. As someone experienced in optimizing business processes, I can help you achieve these quick wins, setting the stage for long-term success. Feeling overwhelmed by your current workflows? It’s a brave new world out there, and hybrid working is becoming the norm. With so many changes to our teams and working practices, facing an uncertain future in an increasingly digital age, learning to utilise automation to your benefit could be a great tool in your efficiency kit. Automating some of your working tasks can speed up the execution of tasks and reduce mistakes from human error, particularly due to repetition. When formulaic, repetitive tasks are in question, automation could be the perfect answer to honing an effective team. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ege9-qky

You can do big things with small teams, but it’s hard to do small things with big teams. And small is often plenty. That’s the power of small — you do what needs to be done rather than overdoing it. #DigitalTransformation

If you want to build a high-performing team, you can't be the one doing the analytics work. Especially if you're the one in a leadership position. The time you spend writing code and building dashboards doesn't help your team be more effective. Instead, you should remove the friction that prevents the team from generating insights. You can: - Automate repeated work - Organize analysis findings - Standardize documentation - Build a code review process - Create a dashboard release schedule None of this is technical work but it is critical work. The more non-technical work you do, the more time the team has to put their technical skills to work. Get out of the technical weeds and focus on the bigger picture.

Very often, it's people problems, not technical challenges, that actually holds a team back from high performance. In my recent post, a reader wrote in with a challenging situation working with an architect who was having a hard time letting go of details. Because he has to provide input on any changes, it slows the whole team down (and likely he is burning out as well!). I share some suggestions for approaches to build a positive relationship with the architect, as a newcomer to the team, as well as ways to bring the architect into a productive conversation about how he can step away from the details. I've been really enjoying this Reader Mailbag format, so if you have work situations or feel stuck, please share with me (form in post, which is in comments)!

Is Your Team Operating with Little to No Documented Processes? Small teams often rely on constant communication and shared understanding. As you grow, it’s crucial to document expectations, processes, inputs, and outputs. ⚠️ Consequences of Lacking Documentation: 🚩 Disconnects and Mistakes: Frequent errors and misunderstandings. 🚩 Reliance on Tribal Knowledge: Knowledge is not shared or accessible. 🚩 Inconsistent Results: Outcomes vary and are hard to predict. 🚩Inability to Scale: Challenges in growing reliably and efficiently. 📚 Why Documented Processes Matter: ✅ Reduce Disconnects and Mistakes: Clear documentation minimizes errors and miscommunications. ✅ Enable Reliable Scaling: Standardized processes ensure everyone is aligned and can replicate success. ✅ Improve Efficiency: Avoid inefficient and inconsistent practices by having a shared reference. Cascade Change Consultants (www.c3posystems.com) can help. We help define and implement quality management systems that are optimized and compliant.
