My view about the discussion surrounding AI regulations in Turkey is straightforward: we should exercise caution and wait. The European Union has recently enacted its AI Act, and we have yet to observe its full implications. This cautious approach should be applied across all digital regulations. For instance, Apple is postponing the release of new AI features in the upcoming iPhone, specifically for the EU market, due to uncertainties regarding compliance. The famous report by Draghi attributes the lagging European digital economy to overregulation, highlighting a stark contrast: the USA boasts 600 unicorns, while the EU has only produced 140—with 40 of those relocating to the USA! I had the opportunity to engage in a meaningful discussion about AI regulations for Turkey during an international panel alongside Giovanni Maria Riccio and Selçukhan Ünekbaş, curated by Sabire Sanem Yılmaz, Deniz Celikkaya, Alp Mete ŞİRİN Şirin, and Erkan Cem Yeniocak.
