They do this up front, so that their message and mission are imbued in the DNA of their business. Here are some suggestions on how to get started: 1. Find your True Story. Whether you call it product-market fit or brand or something else, this is the basic equation of your value, who it's for and how they benefit. 2. Identify the gaps in your customer journey. Whatever your customer's path to becoming a customer, you want to know where they are getting stuck. Knowing this gives you your marketing priorities. Do this first! 3. Fix your mindset: be authentic, be focused and be generous. These are counter-intuitive - which is all the more reason to practice them while most others don't. You will stand out.
