This follows a +7.5% growth in 2024, when the market hit US$289 billion. This is taking place in a slightly slowing, but stable, economic environment where real GDP grew by +5.3% in 2024 according to the #IMF. Leigh Terry, CEO, IPG Mediabrands APAC, said: “The APAC advertising market is thriving, growing by 7.5% in 2024 to reach US$289 billion. This growth is fueled by #DigitalAdvertising, with search and social media leading the charge. While traditional #media is seeing modest growth, digital pure players are driving the majority of the market share. Hey, digital advertisers - here are some 🔥 news to kick-start your week. In a recent press release, dentsu shared their revised global advertising forecast, expecting global ad spend to grow 5% in 2024 (up from 4.6% in a previous forecast), outperforming 2023 growth of 3.3% and beating the overall economic growth rate (by 1.8 pp). One of the growth drivers will be digital advertising, which is now predicted to increase by 7.4% and capture 59.6% of global spend this year, with double-digit growth for retail media and paid social (up 32% and 13.7% year to year). Other factors influencing will be the US presidential election, which is estimated to account for about a third ($11 billion) of the incremental ad spend in 2024, as well as the summer Olympics. By region, the Americas is predicted to experience the fastest growth, up 5.9%, Asia-Pacific could see 4.2% growth, and EMEA is expected to grow 4%. Travel and tourism will top category growth, up 8.1% as tourism continues to benefit from a post-pandemic rebound. Media and entertainment is expected to grow 6.5% as the proliferation of content and streaming services continues. Adjusted for inflation, overall ad-spending growth is projected at 2.6% in 2024, as prices remain high, especially for TV and digital video formats. The growth is expected to continue through 2025 (+7.6%) and 2026 (+7%), with the global ad market reaching $1.24 trillion by 2026. Online #media is the main driver of this growth, while TV #advertising is also seeing a boost, especially due to political ads and major events like the Paris Olympics and Euro 2024. Linear TV spend will increase by 1.9% in 2024 to $153.6 billion, though it now makes up only 14.3% of global ad spend, down from 41.3% in 2013. Pure-play internet ads, including those from major tech companies like Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta, are expected to grow by 14.1% to $741.4 billion, making up 68.8% of global ad spend. The fourth quarter of 2024 is crucial for advertisers, with $299.2 billion expected to be spent globally, 10.2% more than last year. Retailers, in particular, will spend heavily, with $45.6 billion allocated to ads in Q4, a 5% increase. Retail media spending is forecast to rise sharply, with a 16.4% increase in Q4, reaching $46.2 billion. Amazon will lead this sector, accounting for $16.9 billion. Other sectors like tech, alcoholic drinks, cosmetics, food, and soft drinks are also seeing significant increases in retail media ad spend. Overall, retail media is projected to reach $154.8 billion in 2024 and grow to $201.6 billion by 2026.

It is anticipated that India will be experiencing substantial growth in its advertising income forecasted to expand to USD18.5 billion, with a remarkable 9.5% increase as compared to the previous year. The market is expected to achieve the growth rate of 8.7%, this trend is likely to get continued in 2025. The universal advertising sector experiences a positive direction, with total revenues projected to reach USD 989.8 billion by the end of 2024, a 7.8% increase from the previous year. Here’s the scoop: global ad revenue is projected to top a cheeky $1 trillion by 2025! How wild is that? According to a fresh forecast from GroupM, the ad industry’s going to grow by 7.8% in 2024, hitting nearly $990 billion—and smashing that trillion-dollar mark a whole year earlier than we thought. What’s fueling this beast? A good chunk of it’s down to revised forecasts for China and the U.S..
