A company's mission should drive product innovation. If not, those products will die resulting in that company becoming obsolete. Top Mission Statements: EA- Inspire the World to Play Figma- Make Designs Accessible to Everyone Tesla- To accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy Meta- Giving people the power to build community and bring the world closer together I can go on and on. Stop wasting your time building products and spend more time crafting your mission.

Expanding on the theme of ROI for design systems, let's delve deeper into the cultural implications and benefits that extend beyond the traditional metrics. 💼 While there's no shortage of LinkedIn posts and Medium articles highlighting the financial benefits of implementing and maintaining a design system, let's shift the focus to the cultural ROI. 👩💼👨💻 Designers and developers have long been caught in the belief that their primary role is crafting pixel-perfect button sets and meticulously organizing lines of code. Yet, with the rise of ready-made design systems, these tasks are becoming more redundant, leaving many to wonder about the future of their roles. And no - AI isn't to fault for this one. 🤖 But fear not. The evolution of design systems isn't rendering designers and developers obsolete; rather, it's reshaping the cultural landscape and redefining the parameters of ROI. 🔄 Gone are the days of grueling, siloed workflows that foster internal warfare and hinder collaboration. Enter pre-made design systems like Ant Design and MUI, offering a pathway to harmony and efficiency. 🌟 By embracing these ready-made solutions, teams can redirect their focus from petty disputes over pixels to more meaningful pursuits. Designers can hone their skills in crafting seamless user experiences, while developers can architect elegant solutions to support these experiences. After all, who wants to waste time debating the merits of 6-pixel vs. 4-pixel? 📏 As roles evolve, so too does the work culture. 🚀 With the adoption of design systems, teams are liberated to concentrate on overarching business goals and personal professional development. The result? A happier, more fulfilled team, ready to exceed expectations and propel the company to new heights. 🌈 In this light, the true ROI of a design system isn't just measured in cost savings or productivity gains; it's reflected in the empowerment of individuals and the fostering of a thriving, collaborative community. 🌟 Let's keep embracing the amazing impact design systems can have on our culture and company success. 💡 Can we move beyond the tyranny of 'pixel perfect'? Are systems like Ant Design and MUI actually good solutions? Like, share, follow and connect to get the conversation going! 📣 In the picture: A team that truly understands the value of becoming one. #designsystems #design #productdesign #collaboration #development #frontend #AI #founder #CEO #productmanagment #entrepreneurship #startups

Rethinking MVP: From Minimum Viable to Most Valuable 🚀 In product design, MVP (Minimum Viable Product) often means launching the simplest version quickly. But what if we shift our focus from just enough to truly valuable? Imagine building a treehouse. You can put together a basic platform, walls, and a roof quickly. It’s usable, but not exciting. Now, think about adding comfy chairs, a secret compartment, and a slide. This is not just a treehouse, it’s the best treehouse ever! This is the essence of creating the Most Valuable Product. 🔍 Understand User Value: Dive deep into user needs and desires. Ask questions, listen to feedback, and analyze competitors to know what truly matters to your audience. ⚙️ Iterative Development with Purpose: Each improvement should make your product significantly better. Focus on features that enhance user satisfaction and align with your goals. ⏳ Balance Speed and Quality: Don’t rush to meet deadlines at the cost of quality. Ensure every part is well-made and enjoyable, creating a strong foundation for future growth. Let’s move beyond the basics and create products that people love and want to use for a long time. The journey from viability to value is strategic and intentional, fostering sustainable success in the ever-evolving landscape of technology and innovation.

Most design problems have been solved. I’m kidding. Sorta. Mateus S. keenly observed my post on measuring design, “Do you think making design impact easy to measure will make design practice less creative and more predictable? Because some innovation (especially radical innovation) can't be measured and rely on 'creative intuition' which of course difficult to quantify.” Design is about helping an audience adapt to change. Most design challenges today focus on improving experiences to meet business goals. This is incremental work. Much of the work involved in these challenges will be automated, but for what purpose? That’s where understanding measurement comes in– it will allow designers to create more complex products and services that better tailor experiences to each individual… or personal assistant. We've operated out of Silicon Valley for a quarter century, so I'm fully aware that innovation has a level of intuition that can't be directly measured. We’ve helped over 500 startups. Still, we've found unique ways to learn from audiences in large volumes of needfinding. Does this mean Design will become boring? Go away? Be lesser? Na. Quite the opposite. However, the skills required to make a difference will require another maturity and skill level. Orchestration, system thinking, psychology, measurement, and pattern-making are skills needed to create a design impact. This is where most innovation in design will happen. It’s a great time to be a designer. #productdesign #productdiscovery #userresearch #uxresearch

As your startup scales, maintaining consistency, speed, and flexibility becomes crucial. A well-implemented design system can be the key to navigating this growth successfully. Here’s why it’s essential at Series A and B stages: 1-Consistency at Scale: A design system ensures your brand stays cohesive as your product portfolio grows, maintaining a seamless user experience across multiple platforms. 2-Accelerated Development: With reusable components, your team can ship features faster, focusing on innovation rather than reinventing the wheel with every new release. 3-Collaboration Across Teams: A design system acts as a shared language for designers, developers, and product managers, helping teams align and work more effectively, even when distributed. 4- Innovation and Scalability: It supports flexible, modular designs that allow your team to experiment and innovate quickly, without sacrificing product consistency. 5-Accessibility and Quality: Built-in standards ensure that all components meet accessibility guidelines, reducing technical debt while keeping quality high. A design system isn’t just about efficiency—it’s about empowering your startup to scale smarter, faster, and with fewer growing pains. You can’t launch a perfect product design for your startup in one go—it's just not realistic. But here’s what you can do today ⤵️ - Build a minimum viable product (MVP) to test your main idea. - Get user feedback early and often to tweak your design. - Focus on nailing one big problem really well. - Keep things simple and easy to use. A few weeks of focused effort is all it takes. And in three months, you’ll have 🔥 - Real insights from your users - A better product that fixes key issues - A strong base for future updates Don’t say ❌ "I want to launch the perfect product design today." Instead, say ✅ "I want to get user feedback on my MVP today." Go for iterative design and user feedback over trying to get it perfect right away. P.S. Got an MVP or new design? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to check it out 👌

let's talk about design today! You know, that one thing that makes a product go from "meh to mesmerizing"? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! DESIGN! It is so much more than just making something look pretty. It's the secret sauce that makes a product functional, user-friendly, and downright amazing. And let me tell you, it's a total game-changer. Think about it. A well-designed product can: - Make your life easier - Lasts longer - Keeps you safe from harm - Make a brand stand out like a superhero - Drive innovation like a sports car - Save you money like a smart budgeter - Even help the planet breathe a little easier So, design isn't just some fancy extra. It's the real MVP (most valuable player) when it comes to creating products that rock!

Startup Mistake #2: Aesthetic vs Functional Design – A False Dichotomy There's a widespread myth in SaaS circles that you have to choose between beauty and utility. This is a false dichotomy. Our approach is to marry aesthetics with functionality. Every design element must serve a purpose, whether it’s guiding the user's eye or making the experience more intuitive. A well-designed SaaS product isn't just about looking good; it's about enhancing user interaction and making complex processes feel simple.
