Very pleased to start my first day as CEO HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd with a visit to Old Oak Common. The preparations for the launch of the tunnelling drive to Euston are typical of the whole of this important programme; impressive engineering on an extraordinary scale with safety at the heart of everything. Thank you to James Richardson and all team from SCS for showing me around. Plenty challenges ahead as we create an operational railway but I am sure we will get there together. Also good luck to my former team at SGN,now under the great leadership of Simon Kilonback. https://lnkd.in/eMfj-Ek3

Great that the tunnelling to Euston is now proceeding …. And you are now in post at HS2 of course!!! Incredible how technology can drive the accuracy and direction of TBMs …. I am sure you will deliver the next chapter of HS2 similarly. Best wishes.

Almost full circle being back at Old Oak. All the best with the new gig, and it sounds like you've left SGN in good hands
Congratulations, Mark! It's fantastic to see you taking on this critical project. Having worked with you on the Elizabeth Line, I know firsthand your exceptional leadership and commitment to delivering complex infrastructure projects. 2wBest wishes Mark on the role. I am sending this from a late and overcrowded train from Birmingham to Euston. Having led the west coast mainline upgrade for the 2008 timetable change and after that, the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street a lot has been done. But more capacity to Euston is essential for the UK rail network and especially the economy of Northern cities. As you say, lots of challenges ahead but the need is greater than ever.
