This weekend, I did something that felt completely out of my comfort zone—I stepped into the boxing ring for a white-collar boxing match. And let me tell you, it was a wild ride that packed a punch in more ways than one! 😅 A HUGEEE thank you to everyone who donated via my GoFundMe and raised over £1,245 for Greengate Trust & Yemaid! 💕 When I first signed up, it was all about raising money for a cause close to my heart. But as I got deeper into training, I realised that what I was gaining went far beyond the charity aspect. Pushing myself to do something I didn’t need to do—but wanted to—was a huge personal win. The feeling of empowerment that came from sticking to a training regime and getting to the end was great! There were moments in the ring where all the preparation I had done seemed to fly out the window. It was one of those moments where life reminds you that, no matter how ready you think you are, surprises can hit hard. The real lesson was that it’s not about avoiding those punches (because life will always throw some at you). It’s about how you adjust your stance, change your technique, and keep moving forward. One of the most rewarding parts of the entire experience was hearing my family cheering for me in the crowd. Knowing that I was showing them, firsthand, that stepping out of your comfort zone leads to growth in every area of life was an incredible feeling. In both boxing and life, preparation is important. But what’s even more crucial is the resilience to adapt when things don’t go as planned. There’s something so powerful in challenging yourself in all times of life regardless of the odds. (BTW the result was a draw and I LOVED every second of it!) #whitecollarfight

Things you can buy in 2024 with $765,000,000: 1. The restoration of Notre-Dame de Paris. 2. The services of MLB slugger Juan Soto for 15 years. Some would surely assert that there are better things the world could do (and should do) with $765m, and there is an argument to be had there. But I disagree for a few reasons. First, the extremely gifted Mr. Soto will only earn that amount because tens of millions of people will show up and tune in to watch Mets games. If all those people opted instead to make a donation to a more charitable cause, the sum would surpass $750m in no time. In other words, Mr. Soto - like all other pro athletes - is essentially crowdfunded by tens of millions of people. Second, and more importantly, is that you cannot put a price tag on hope and meaning. Now perhaps more than ever, many in the world face a crisis of purpose, and it is timeless and symbolic structures like Notre-Dame that give people something to believe in when the material world repeatedly lets them down. People need something to look up at (metaphorically, and in this case literally), and Notre-Dame serves that purpose. $765m (almost all privately donated, I should add) may even be a bargain in the grand scheme of things.
