🌟 Rockstart recently invested in BCHAR and here's why: 🌋 2 billion tonnes of agricultural waste is estimated to be produced every year. This waste is a massive contributor of CO2 emissions, and often hidden within scope 3 emissions of many products we use each day. Corporations could soon be held accountable for these scope 3 emissions. ⛰️ Much of the agri waste is organic matter. A potential solution is to slowly bake the organic waste to make a carbon rich char, called biochar, locking in carbon. The biochar can be applied to soil to improve structure, aeration, water retention and improves root development and habitat for beneficial microbes - thus improving soil health and long term carbon storage. 🏔️ BCHAR is revolutionizing carbon removal with their fully autonomous system that transforms agricultural waste into biochar, allowing corporations to have on-site biochar production at point of waste. Their integrated solution automates every production stage, making it simple to convert waste into value while enabling transparent carbon removal credit creation. 👥 The founding team Darius E. Stulz, Stefan M. Kaspar, and Josh Shao stood out to us thanks to their combination of vision and engineering excellence - having worked together on complex engineering challenges during their studies such as the Hyperloop and XPrize Carbon Removal projects. 🌱 All this contributes towards Rockstart's AgriFood impact goals and our "Regenerative and Future Proof" investment thesis 🚀 Welcome aboard, BCHAR! We are delighted to be working together :) ✨ Interested in joining us? The #Biochar Dream, for new agricultural innovations🤞 Biochar is a fascinating concept that holds immense potential for transforming agriculture as we know it. It's a type of charcoal produced from biomass, like agricultural waste or wood chips, through a process called pyrolysis. So, why is biochar so exciting?📯❤ Well, it offers a multitude of benefits for soil health, crop growth, and carbon sequestration. When incorporated into soil, biochar acts as a sponge, retaining water and nutrients, thereby enhancing fertility and reducing the need for chemical fertilizers. Plus, it can help mitigate climate change by locking carbon away for hundreds or even thousands of years! 📌Imagine a future where farmers harness the power of biochar to improve soil quality, increase crop yields, and reduce environmental impact. It's not just a dream; it's a reality waiting to be fully realized. If you're passionate about sustainable agriculture and want to be at the forefront of innovation, keep an eye on the biochar revolution. Embrace the dream, explore its potential, and contribute to a greener, more resilient farming future! 🌏🥰 --------------------------------------------- #BiocharDream #AgriculturalInnovation #SustainableFarming Helping biochar production startups.

How can we revolutionize industries and reduce deforestation with innovative, sustainable solutions? Our #VentureFellows 2024 cohort member Algas Organics is leading the way with their groundbreaking approach to converting algae into sustainable products and fertilizers. Founded by Johanan Dujon, CEO, Algas Organics is committed to helping the packaging, paper, and pulp industry cut deforestation by utilizing their novel seaweed-based fiber. This fiber grows approximately 320 times faster, is about 40% cheaper, and uses around 80% less energy than traditional wood fiber. 🌍 Johanan Dujon shares their vision: "In the next 5-10 years, our seaweed-based pulp fiber would be adopted by major packaging and paper/pulp companies globally, allowing them to produce more with fewer trees. This innovation will mitigate 500 million tons of CO2e annually, by replacing the pulp from 1.4 billion trees per year, equivalent to removing 109 million cars off the road annually." Algas Organics’ patented extraction technology eliminates heavy metals from invasive Sargassum seaweed, transforming this biomass into cost-effective climate-tech solutions. By turning seaweed into valuable products, Algas Organics is making a significant impact on reducing carbon footprints and promoting sustainable practices across major industries. We are proud to support Algas Organics and their commitment to creating innovative solutions for a more sustainable future. 🌿 ________ Venture Fellows offers a no-cost, nine-month accelerator program providing guidance, resources, and funding to scale solutions for community-centric climate action.
