Today the NIS2 (Network and Information Security Directive) takes effect. It is the new European cybersecurity directive that will require organizations to establish a baseline of security measures to mitigate the risk of cyber-attacks and to improve the overall level of cybersecurity in the EU (or those doing business with the EU). The Network and Information Security Directive 2 (NIS2) is a continuation and expansion of the previous European Union (EU) cybersecurity directive introduced back in 2016. The purpose of establishing a baseline of security measures for digital service providers and operators of essential services is to mitigate the risk of cyberthreats and improve the overall level of cybersecurity in the EU. Organizations have until October 17, 2024, to improve their security posture before they’ll be legally obligated to live up to the requirements of NIS2. #Security #Microsoft #Cybersecurity

Navigating NIS2: Why Zero Trust is Key to Compliance With the upcoming NIS2 directive tightening cybersecurity requirements across the EU, businesses must rethink their security strategies. The directive demands more robust threat detection, incident reporting, and risk management—highlighting the urgent need for a zero-trust security model. Zero Trust assumes no network, device, or user is inherently safe. By enforcing continuous verification and strict access controls, this model helps organizations meet NIS2 standards while minimizing vulnerabilities. As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, Zero Trust offers a proactive defense that aligns with NIS2’s focus on resilience and breach containment. For businesses preparing for NIS2 compliance, Zero Trust is not just a security framework—it’s the intelligent choice to safeguard critical data and ensure regulatory alignment. #ZeroTrustAdvocate #Cybersecurity #NIS2Compliance #DataProtection #BusinessResilience #PINCommunityAdvocate #MicrosoftPartner
