Key Learnings and Skills Acquired:🔍 Problem-Solving with a Hypothesis-Led Approach: One of the most valuable skills I acquired is the ability to tackle problems methodically. By developing hypotheses and testing them, I learned to navigate complex challenges efficiently and effectively. 🗣️ Communication for Impact: The EPIC framework has been instrumental in refining my communication skills. I now better understand how to convey ideas compellingly and inspire action in others. 🌱 Adaptability and Resilience: Throughout the program, I developed a deeper understanding of how to remain adaptable and resilient in the face of adversity. This journey emphasized the importance of building habits and focusing on the learning process rather than just the end goals. 🧠 APR Technique (Awareness, Pause, Reframe): This technique has been a game-changer for me. It has taught me how to handle difficult situations by being aware of my thoughts, pausing to reflect, and reframing my mindset to find constructive solutions. 💻 Digital Tools and the Digital World: The digital tools course offered a comprehensive introduction to the digital landscape, equipping me with the knowledge to navigate and leverage digital technologies effectively. 🤝 Relationships and Wellbeing: Understanding oneself and others is crucial for building strong, meaningful relationships. This scholarship helped me delve into the dynamics of personal and professional relationships, fostering a deeper sense of empathy and collaboration. This journey has been transformative, highlighting the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and self-awareness. Recently I completed my 1st year at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and want to share how I felt working for a company that loves challenges and believes in making this world a better place. BCG is one of the finest and most amazing organizations I have ever worked with in my long career. From the very first day, it has impressed me with the unwavering dedication, creativity, teamwork, and various social activities that define its work culture. One aspect that stands out is the nurturing and inclusive atmosphere that pervades our workspace. It’s remarkable how every voice is valued, and ideas are encouraged and celebrated, regardless of hierarchy. This approach has deepened my commitment to our collective goals. Another commendable aspect is the importance given to mental & physical health, reflected in flexible work arrangements, and the various wellness programs offered. I am also incredibly impressed by the commitment to continuous learning and development. The opportunities for professional growth through training programs, workshops, or mentorship, have been invaluable in enhancing skillsets. This is a testament to BCG’s forward-thinking vision. McKinsey again. Offer again. 💥 Another great success for one of our mentees, who will join #McKinsey in one of their global flagship offices - New York City! The offer was already achieved a while back, but I didn't elaborate on it yet. I've had the privilege of chatting to a lot of MBAs and PhDs recently who are nervous about switching from a different career into consulting. But there is no one path to Bain. Guest host Daniel Yellin talks with senior manager Lee Foster, based in our Atlanta office, about transitioning into consulting. Lee shifted from teaching and policy work with Teach for America to consulting after earning her MPP. Joaquín Romero, Senior Manager, Atlanta ✈️ "At the age of 17, I moved from my medium-sized town in Argentina to Buenos Aires, where I studied Industrial Engineering. It was a new environment that required adjusting to a new study schedule and trying to make new friends. Fast forward, an experience of a lifetime was presented to me to participate in a six-month student exchange program in Belgium, which would not affect my grades but would delay my graduation. I decided it was worth the trade-off and embarked on my first international experience. I could honestly say that it was mind-blowing. I lived on campus, met many individuals from diverse cultures, traveled around Europe, and made more lifelong memories. 🎓 Fast forward, I worked for a year in Mercado Libre and decided to continue my education and moved to the U.S. to pursue an MBA at Harvard Business School. The first six months were very difficult. I was a non-native English speaker, recruiting for a job in consulting and adjusting to the case method. While these challenges pushed me out of my comfort zone, they also helped me grow. It was during this program that I met my wife and began my relationship with Bain as a Summer Intern. I loved my experience at Bain and ultimately chose to join the firm full-time after completing my MBA. 🚗 My time at Bain has been incredibly rewarding. At first there was an adjustment period because I didn’t know anyone in the Atlanta office and had just moved there to live closer to my wife’s family. The Bainies in the office were very welcoming, however, and I was able to get my footing and connect with new people. Some of the ways in which I was able to build meaningful relationships at Bain included joining the Bain soccer team and leading our Atlanta Familia at Bain group, a diverse community for Bain professionals with Hispanic, Latino/a/x, Chicano/a, Latin American, and Afro-Latino heritage. 🌟Throughout my journey, I faced several important life decisions. One of the questions I like to ask myself is if you’ll regret not doing it in 10-20 years. If the answer is yes, then just go for it. I was one of the 8 privileged young ladies selected to participate in Bain & Company’s Networking Dinner last week. And boy oh boy did I have a blast! At the Dinner, I : 🌻learnt about one of the top 3 Consulting firms 🌻interacted with some incredible people 🌻and had a sumptuous dinner -> This networking dinner was exclusive to female students at KU Leuven. During the dinner, we had the opportunity to pick the brains of the Bainies present with questions about work, lifestyle and opportunities. We were also given a short, yet insightful presentation on Bain. During this presentation, an impressive statistic about Bain was mentioned: They have an equal ratio of men and women employees at the Brussels office! *cue excited giggles (One🤵♂️= One🤵♀️|📍🇧🇪) 🌻What was *even more* amazing though, was that statistic wasn’t merely a figure on a PowerPoint slide. It was put in practice as the Bainies at the event were 50% male and 50% female! The presentation also covered the various departments at Bain, opportunities and benefits available for employees, as well as internships and events we should look out for. During the dinner, I got the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the Bainies present. 🌻From the application process to longevity of careers, Bain had ensured there’d be someone perfect to answer all our doubts. The attention to detail was incredible, they switched tables half way through to allow us to interact with everyone present, and accommodated each of our dietary preferences. I enjoyed hearing all the stories shared by Elise Vanderclausen, Vincent Goffin, Jeroen Droog, CPIM, and Annelien Crijns about their lives at Bain. It was a pleasure seeing how incredibly down to earth, intelligent, and approachable they were. I fondly reflect on the experiences they shared about the mushroom farms, gym teacher aspirations, go karting experience, and a brief mention of a fascinating client they were working on: Open AI. 🌻I learnt (for the very first time) what pro-bono cases are, how they are tackled at Bain, and the budget allocated to it per annum. It was also interesting to learn how extranships work, and the advantages of having that opportunity as employees. I learnt so much about consulting, life at Bain, and gathered so many tips that I’m eager to implement in the near future. 🌻All in all, it was an amazing experience with inspiring people, valuable insights and new learnings that I’ll dearly cherish. I’ve been challenged by the experts from Bain to set the bar higher for both my future workplace, and the colleagues I’m surrounded with. 💕Massive thank you to the organizers and the awesome Bainies for their invaluable time!!
