What an inspiring and educational morning at yesterday's monthly G.R.I.T. -GROWTH, RESILIENCE, INTENTION, TENACITY. Luncheon! A huge thank you to Jennifer Bardot for her dedication to empowering women and supporting our personal growth. We explored the importance of living a holistic life—nurturing mind, body, and soul. Jennifer Bardot, MS, MA brought in a panel of women who practice and promote #healthy living. Lynnea Brumbaugh, Ph.D. Kelli Risse, Julie Kappen Jenny Gabriel, NTP Jade James-Halbert, MD MPH LaKricia Cox As women, we often focus on #caring for others—our families, and climbing the corporate ladder—while neglecting our own self-care. We were reminded that prioritizing self-care is essential for our well-being and success. This panel of experts also highlighted the unique challenges women face, including hormonal shifts during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause, which can lead to #mental health struggles like depression. Focusing too much on others can take a toll on our health, sometimes causing physical illness or PTSD from caring for a loved one. We learned three ways to close the #stress cycle: laughing, crying, and physical touch, along with movement, deep breathing, or creativity. It’s also important to avoid trying to change everything at once when helping others—talk first to understand where they’re at. And if you find yourself comparing to others on social media, put the phone down and scan the room horizontally to break the cycle and refocus. What causes stress for you? How do you know you’re stressed? Some signs I notice when I am overwhelmed include stress eating, irritability, twitching, or physical mistakes like running into a closed garage door or spilling water. For me, I can feel my body tense up, and I know I need a break, but I push through. Do you experience that too? Have you ever heard of Rushing Woman’s Syndrome? This term describes the constant need to rush and be all things to all people. Rushing Woman’s Syndrome is a vicious cycle caused by stress, but solutions include deep breathing, yoga, tai chi, morning rituals, and asking for help or delegating duties. Surrounding yourself with people who fill your cup is also key to maintaining balance. Here is the book 'Rushing Woman's Syndrome' recommendation from the panel - https://lnkd.in/d6ugNyHh Here’s to making self-care a priority and embracing a balanced, healthy life!
