Did you know that more than 90% of Tarrant County parents think their kids are at grade level when in reality, only 50% of kids actually are?
As parents, we're used to report cards being the standard for how our kids are doing in school. We assume that if our child is receiving A's and B's, they are performing well, but report cards do not always paint the whole picture.
I am beyond thankful that my daughter has a teacher this year who has been exceptional at communicating where she is at, a standards-based report card, and proactively sending home MAP and Renaissance STAR scores (which, by the way, are all standards/assessments to measure whether your child is growing academically and if they are on grade-level). However, I know that this is not necessarily common practice for all teachers/districts.
Please help in sharing the resources from the Go Beyond Grades campaign (packaged by Learning Heroes (US)), which provides tools to both parents and teachers on what actions they can take to ensure shared knowledge and understanding of a student's academic performance and create plans for success! 1moYes! So much this! I was a Governor and a Chair up until this year and it never gets less weird. When they spoke about staff using their first names I kept having to ask 'what do the children call them?' so that I could match up first names and last names and figure out who everyone was!
