#Flaco the owl was a special guest to so many in NYC over the last year. Sightings of him perched on buildings, fire escapes and in his special tree brought delight to so many. So when he died tragically on Friday, we wondered how we could honor him. Well, during Earth Gives Day, there is a prize fund used to incentivize nonprofits working in climate, the environment, wildlife and beyond to rally more donors and dollars to receive the prize money on top of what they raise from individuals. We are setting up the Flaco Prize Fund. 100% of what you invest will be set aside for the wildlife 501c3 participants that raise the most donations, or the rally the most donors to invest in their work rehabilitating raptors, and protecting their habitats. It's hard to describe the past autumn in a few sentences (and it's not over yet 😉 ). 💡 Key words: charity, busy, amazing, varied, exhausting, travelling the country, working in the sun and rain, meeting and working with fantastic people. This autumn we held charity team-building events for 8 companies and awarness-raising programme for 3; all in 32 days. 🤗 We helped 3 national parks, 4 children's homes, 2 environmental NGOs, 1 home for the elderly, 1 community centre, 1 community garden together with volunteers from companies. ⛏ We built bird boxes, raised flower beds, composting bins, stork nests, painted rooms, eliminated invasive species, renovated information boards, etc. I have had the opportunity to field visit, plan the events, lead programmes, give presentations, demonstrate awareness raising games and of course improvise when nothing went as planned. 🌺 Meanwhile, we have 2 menstruation programmes running which I manage, so I often found myself checking in to international meetings from the conservation area in my wellies. 😆 I'm very proud of our work and the team we've done it with. 💚 Zöldövezet Társulás Egyesület It is fantastic to benefit from these experiences. #environmentprotection #charity #charityteambuilding

I often hear from passionate folks that they don’t know how to have an impact on the issues that matter most to them. That they feel overwhelmed by obstacles and that their voice doesn’t make a difference. There are so many ways to raise your voice but the easiest, and sometimes most effective, is simply to donate to causes you care about. Outdoor Alliance: OA is a nonpartisan coalition of human powered recreation nonprofits bringing the voices of bikers, paddlers, climbers, and hikers to national conservation policy. They have been central to some of the biggest national conservation and recreation wins of the last decade and are well positioned to defend public lands in the next administration. Happy #EarthDay 🌎 As a marketer, I often feel like my work doesn't contribute to helping the thing I love the most: the outdoors. The planet is part of my creative process. I often work out solutions for tough client projects on the trail or on a ski. I work with clients who are consciously trying to make things better for our world. Often, I feel like I take more than I give. One of the best things I've done is commit to 1% for the Planet the past few years. At first, I wasn't sure about the impact and whether it was really worth it. I donate my 1% locally to organizations like Fresh Water Partners, who help communities, farmers, and ranchers protect and support clean waterways all over the state. I get to donate to Wild Montana, and they amplify my voice and those of my neighbors to break through politics and stalemates in my state to protect wild places and recreation opportunities for all. I donate to PARK COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL and I can't count on my fingers and toes the amount of projects they take on to ensure access and protect wild places for me and all the generations after me. We all can do our part with whatever skills or interests we have. For me, it's helping these organizations do what they do best by sharing what I've earned doing what I do best. 💡 Pro-tip: when you donate to the general fund or don't specify a project, your dollars can help these orgs keep the lights on and pay their hard-working employees. Environmental Stewardship: People across the globe engage in activities like planting trees, cleaning up beaches, and advocating for sustainable practices to protect our planet for future generations.
