Donald Trump wins the US election and returns to the Presidency. But what does it mean for the battery supply chain and the future of US energy transition focussed policy? In its current state the IRA is likely to change but Trump may struggle to push too hard against slowing EV adoption and the development of a US battery supply chain, with much of the new investments focussed in red states. As of the announced 2024 election results so far: - 92% of confirmed investments to date (public and private) - 69% of planned cell capacity to 2030 (with 24% in states yet to be called) - 63% of cell plants planned to 2030 (with 25% in states yet to be called) Falls in to republican states, bringing with it thousands of jobs and ongoing investment.
