Back in April did anyone see Forbes 10 HR metrics for 2024? If you want to see negative trends across at least 7 of them then make sure you make on-boarding an after thought & if you've got a strategy that works just assume it always will............. If you do you'll see cost per & time to hire rates rocket, hiring quality drop, Enps drop into detractor land, absenteeism spiral, employee growth rates drop & employee turn over rates far too high. Assume you don't want this to happen? If so and if you've been listening, your people strategy should be your business strategy, and if you've been listening then you'll have nailed onboarding and be continuing to improve and tweak it. Some expert advice I saw recently: 🛳 pre-board - leverage the excitement from the day they accept the job. Leverage the enthusiasm you saw at interview. 👳♀️ personalise L&D. They've probably left a business because there is no upskilling, so upskilling is par - personalised upskilling is seen by the employee as a big investment 🤝 not everyone will seek out workplace pals and it's really hard in the hybrid remote world. Formalise it match, new people up with people who can help them outside their direct reporting line 👨💻 let tech do the heavy day to day lifting and people to manage the value add. ➿ communicate, make sure they know what good is and how to get there 🥂 celebrate milestones. It's big deal when you start doing the job after weeks of learning and shadowing. Don't underplay it. Onboard better to help your customers, keep employees & grow your business. Let's talk about increasing employee engagement in your e-learning. 1️⃣ Provide practical, relatable content. We've all sat through boring, generic, unrelatable training that you can't action - why would you keep going back for more? This is why average engagement rates for corporate e-learning sit at around 10%. 2️⃣ Keep it short. And I mean short. 15 minutes most, with each section around 60 to 90 seconds. Otherwise learners will disengage and learn next to nothing. 3️⃣ Reduce barriers. Having to access a platform, reset your password and re-login every time you need to complete training? Instant no. Especially with Gen Z and Gen A who expect everything at their finger tips. Your employees are more time poor than ever, so making them battle to engage will only decrease engagement further.
