Manisha Girotra’s Post

India lost her golden hands today. In a career spanning six decades, Zakir Hussain collaborated with Western musicians to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western music, solidifying our nation’s soft power. One of our greatest brand ambassadors, he will always be loved and respected.  “Wah, Ustad”🎶

He would be greatly missed. Attended his concert first whilst in High school through SPIC Macay and it was absolutely captivating. He indeed steered many towards Indian Classical.

There is void coming through very clearly with a generation of musicians/ artist leaving the mortal form. I wonder how can we ever fill this void - Pandit Jasraj, Birju Maharaj, Pt Shiv Kumar sharma, Lata Mangeshkar in last 3-4 years . Earlier in last decade . Pandit Ravi Shankar !! He had another 20 years in him but for his illness !
