SpiceJet Limited this is regarding Unjust Excessive Baggage Charges at Boarding Gate and I request for resolution Dear SpiceJet team, I am writing this first time and formally express my frustration regarding an incident during my recent flight with SpiceJet, SG 535, on 21st Dec, 2024 from Bangalore to Delhi. At the boarding gate, a weighing machine was set up, and I was charged ₹650/Kg summing to an amount of ₹3250/- for 5 Kg for excessive baggage despite my bag being within the total allowable weight of 15 kg for checked baggage. When I asked the staff to transfer my bag to the checked-in luggage compartment, I was told that they would not accommodate the request and insisted on charging me for excess baggage. Additionally, I was informed that if I delayed, I might miss my flight, further pressuring me into paying the charge. I find this practice highly questionable and unfair. Given that I had already paid approximately INR 12,000 for the flight, the refusal to transfer my bag to checked luggage—despite the fact that it was within the total limit—feels like an attempt to extract additional money from passengers, which I consider unacceptable. I have a version of the conversation showing that I requested the staff to move my bag to checked luggage, but they denied it. I am requesting a refund of the ₹3250/- charged for excessive baggage and a full review of your boarding gate procedures, which I believe are misleading and exploitative. I too along with 8 others in Cochin airport faced the same issue. If they are weighing the bags at boarding gate why are they not taking checkin at the boarding gate ?. Very unprofessional and rude behavior from the staff . Filed complaint with #airsewa and #consumerhelpline too but getting the same standard copy/paste response from spicejet. let us all file complaint with online consumer legal services - https://edaakhil.nic.in/edaakhil/faces/login.xhtml . Sorry to note your experience But all your efforts will go in vein as these people are so thick skinned fully supported by appropriate high level connections. So don't let the incidence bother you for next couple of days or weeks; instead decide to take alternate airline in future (But which, as all are offering similar customer delight...????) You must be feeling little better as you have vented your frustration.. but believe me, the airline will never even revert, forget about resolution of your issue
It's happened with us too some time back and we were 4 members and taken pledge at same time, we will never board SpiceJet Limited in coming future. We paid 10k together.
What can be expected from 3rd class airline services!!
