OCCUPI, an Investigator Initiated Study led by Dr BK Kim (Severance Hospital, S Korea) was presented as a late-breaker at just concluded ESC. The study which was also simultaneously published in prestigious Lancet demonstrated that OCT-guided PCI significantly improves clinical outcomes and enhances safety and effectiveness of coronary stenting compared to conventional angiography-guided PCI in complex cases. The data was presented just a couple of days after the revision of ESC guidelines for the treatment of CCS, which revised the Intravascular Imaging (OCT/IVUS for complex lesion) to the highest possible level IA. The results from OCCUPI and the new recommendations will likely change the practice of PCI with DES for complex coronary lesions by providing stronger support for the superior benefits of OCT guidance over conventional angio-guided PCI. Many congratulations to the Investigators of OCCUPI for running this large RCT.. #OCT #ComplexPCI #DES #ESC2024 #InvestigatorInitiatedStudy #Abbottproud

The Clinical Services In IR Task Force developed a three-stage system for clinical services infrastructure development. This system shall help create awareness of the fact that different levels of service provision can be offered and worked towards. IRs may also use this system to benchmark themselves and set personal goals for future developments in their centre and practice. The three levels of clinical services infrastructure are split into #inpatient and #outpatient. What is your current level? Where do you see yourself in three years from now? What helps you or holds you back? Leave a comment to share your experience! Learn more about the three-stage system here: https://t.ly/8EvkP Task force members: Prof. Dr. Andreas H. Photon Counting CT: Improved Cost-effectiveness and decreased complications against Standard Energy-Integrating Detector-CT. Another important advantage.
‼️Hot off the press‼️ The first ever #photoncounting CT (PCD-CT) cost effectiveness analysis for CCTA by Milan Vecsey-Nagy from #MUSCcvi. In this simulation study, PCD-CT demonstrated its potential in reducing the financial burden of CCTA on healthcare systems by saving an average of $794.5 per patient compared to standard energy-integrating detector CT. The implementation of PCD-CT in stable chest pain could result in a 18.9% decrease in downstream functional tests, and a 9.4% decrease in major procedure-related complications. https://lnkd.in/gXn3qFJE Tilman Emrich, MD, EBCR, FSCMR Giuseppe Tremamunno Dr. Dmitrij Kravchenko Gerald Laux U. 🔝 Case of the Month in #photoncounting CT🫀 By Milan Vecsey-Nagy at #MUSCcvi As this month’s case coincides with #RSNA2024, we decided to present a unique series of ultra-high-resolution (UHR) #photoncounting CCTA cases - a topic that has been generating significant interest. These cases showcase the exceptional detail provided by UHR CT compared to standard-resolution energy-integrating detector CT. Observe how the enhanced spatial resolution and improved calcium blooming impact stenosis assessment ()! With consistently lower percent diameter stenosis measurements, patients are often reclassified into lower CAD-RADS categories. Such reclassification significantly alters patient pathways, reducing the need for additional functional testing or invasive procedures, and ultimately lowering the rate of complications and costs. Perspectum and MRCP+ in the Spotlight! We’re thrilled to share that quantitative biliary metrics using MRCP+ are gaining significant attention in the medical community. As highlighted at The 2024 Liver Meeting, this breakthrough technology is proving to be a game-changer in understanding and managing primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). A special thank you to Sarah Finnegan, PhD, who presented new research findings from a partnership with the University of Toronto led by Dr Kartik Jhaveri and Dr Gideon Hirschfield showing that MRCP+ could detect changes in biliary tree anatomy over 10 years. PSC is a complex and challenging disease, but advancements like MRCP+ demonstrate how precision diagnostics can enable better clinical decisions, earlier interventions, and improved outcomes for patients worldwide. At Perspectum, we are committed to shaping a future where innovation meets impact, and this milestone brings us one step closer. 📖 Find the full article in the comments below! #Perspectum #MRCPPlus #PrecisionDiagnostics #PSC #HealthcareInnovation

Getting coronary physiology is key in contemporary cardiology. As we move towards CCTA as routing tool for pre-PCI assessment, there is event greater need to obtain consistent and accurate data from CCTA. Reducintion stair-step artifacts is yet another step towards quality decisions. Worth reading to all involved in the filed.
Very nice publication by Costanza Lisi detailing that the #ZeeFree algorithm for reducing stair-step artifacts in sequential mode CCTA increases the rate and quality of datasets amenable to advanced coronary artery analysis. This has the potential for improving patient management! https://lnkd.in/eGvxzQAx #photoncountingCT #yesCCT Costanza Lisi, Lukas J.
