As a Marketer, we must be clear that we need not reinvent the wheels, just we have to monitor our moves of the competitor to sustain in the market. . We have been noticed for more than past 15 years Sun Tv used to make the exact programs taken from Vijay TV, . Some are Kalakkapovathu yaaru, Jodi no.1,Super singer, and even many serials. . While working on a new creative task and while monitoring the competitors and taking some inspirations & references , my mind used to think, "Are we copying them?" . Then I used to think of these ethical copies between the duopolies and relax myself and continue my work. . PepsiCo - Coco Cola ; Zomato - Swiggy ; Airtel - Jio ; Amazon - Flipkart ; Ola - Uber ; Microsoft - Google ; . If you keenly watch all the duopolies,they will for sure ethically copy each other and launch a equivalent product, service or an offer in order to sustain in the market. . On Shantanu Deshpande's podcast, Kiran Shah (founder of Ice Cream Brand Go-Zero) talked about something he called 'Product Channel fit'. He mentioned that not the same SKUs become hero products on all order channels even though on the face of it, it may seem like all channels pull the same kind of audience. Therefore instead of blindly chasing PMF, one should focus on Product channel fit and scale the SKUs selling on respective channels. To be honest hearing this I got validation on some trends I have been seeing at Broke Memers for the last 6 months. Different marketplaces have different collections (set of related designs) as our best sellers: 1. Amazon - Taylor Swift 2. Flipkart - Super Cars 3. Ajio - Disney 4. Meesho - BTS Even though price and practically everything is the same across platforms, despite trying multiple campaigns one collection which is running well on 1 platform doesn't scale to the numbers we would expect on other marketplaces. Therefore we changed our approach - instead of trying to scale the collections which are selling on other marketplaces, we are now focusing on bringing designs which are related to/similar to the ones which have been hot selling on that marketplace. Eg: Since Disney is selling on Ajio, we have launched Kung Fu Panda and will soon launch Minions there. And as expected, sales picked up instantly. Even if you don't necessarily learn anything new listening to podcasts and folks who are ahead of you in the journey, you atleast get validation for the common challenges and customer trends which sometimes are a bit difficult to decipher. #ecommerce #founderjourney #entrepreneurialjourney #brandbuilding
