UK • Vauxhall has teamed up with Tesco to offer a year’s free charging credit at Tesco stores with every new electric vehicle order. With 2,700 charge points across 619 stores nationwide, including rapid charging stations, this partnership promises greater convenience for EV drivers. Vauxhall's Managing Director, James Taylor, emphasizes their commitment to supporting electric vehicle adoption, while Tesco's Head of Retail Partnerships, Clare Gregorio, highlights the convenience for shoppers. This initiative is part of Vauxhall's Electric Streets of Britain program, aiming to address the lack of on-street charging infrastructure. James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall, said: “As electric vehicle sales continue to grow, access to practical charging continues to be a hot topic to ensure the UK can continue along its electrification journey, whether at home, on-street or at a required destination. “In partnership with Tesco, Vauxhall is continuing to support electric vehicle drivers across the country, offering free charging for any new Vauxhall customer visiting a Tesco store. “We’re committed to electrifying Britain and helping UK motorists to make the switch to electric. We are excited to begin working with Tesco and look forward to seeing the UK’s charging network grow, allowing even more convenient charging solutions for drivers to make their day-to-day journeys.” #vauxhall #tesco #emobility #charging #innovation #infrastructure #electricvehicles #sustainablility #network #strategy https://lnkd.in/eGMuSURV

CR just did a first-of-its kind investigation examining which retailers are leading or lagging when it comes to EV charging. Biggest takeaway is that only about 1 percent of the 270,000 retail locations controlled by the 75 retail and fast-food companies they reviewed offer any EV charging. On average, EV charging is available at 1 out of every 14 big box store locations; 1 out of every 15 grocery stores; and 1 out of every 40 department stores. Ikea is the only company that offers charging at almost 100% of their stores (mind boggling!) In short, these results show that there is no retail category where a driver can be confident that an EV charger will be available. https://lnkd.in/gr2WyP8q

We all know public electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is lacking. But this stat has shocked us... According to research from Zapmap and RAC, only 13% of supermarkets across the UK offer EV charging. And that’s after a 59% rise in the number of EV chargers installed at UK supermarkets between 2022 and 2023! Whilst we‘re glad to see EV charger stats rising, we think a lot more charging points are needed to cater to EV drivers’ needs — and support the country’s transition away from petrol and diesel cars. What do you think? Read the article below to find out more. And remember: if you’re looking to embark on an EV charger project of your own, we can assist. Just say the word. 🚗🔌 #ElectricVehicles #EVCharging #ChargingInfrastructure https://bit.ly/3TzyIkU

EV charging is the new retail therapy. When it comes to big box stores and fast food chains, EV chargers would seem to be a natural complement. For retailers and shopping malls that installed chargers over the years, they're now starting to pay off. With more EVs now on the road comes growing demand for charging stations. They're not only generating more foot traffic to stores, but the charging business is a profitable one as well. Venture down the various office campuses in Silicon Valley, and it wouldn't be hard to see vehicles plugged into charging stations in the office parking lot. Go to San Francisco, and it's not uncommon to see cords running from a nearby garage to an EV parked on the street. The demand for charging stations shouldn't come as a surprise, yet the U.S. still has plenty of charging station deserts. For retailers, charging stations are like store greeters getting people to stop by their stores and eateries. They're moneymakers all right, yet ironically, some retailers still aren't doing much to support EV charging. Take these numbers for example. A study of 270,000 retail locations controlled by 75 major retail and fast-food chains such as Costco, Ikea, Walmart, and Target found only 1% offered EV charging. Only one out of every 14 big-box stores, one out of every 15 grocery stores, and one out of every 40 department stores had a charger. Add in the fact that cities in general lack charging stations, the gap and the opportunity is there. EV stations charge the bottom line. A study discovered that 80% of consumers stated the availability of fast chargers influenced their decision of where to shop. Given that charging stations can take upwards of 45 minutes to charge an EV, that can lead to tens of thousands of dollars in new store revenue annually as customers browse and shop. While EVs are good for the environment, the charging stations are good for business https://lnkd.in/gyd2d6Zr #electricvehicles #chargingstations #retail #groceries #malls #consumers

If you’re a retailer with a parking lot, offering #electricvehicle charging stations can attract new customers and incentivize consumer spending. But there’s only one retailer with chargers at more than a third of its U.S. locations, according to a new study from Consumer Reports (CR).
