🚗 Pavement of Auto Tour Route - Manzanar National Historic Site 🚗 HECO Engineers play a role in enhancing National Historic Sites like the Auto Tour Route in the Manzanar National Historic Site. Visit their website: https://lnkd.in/gjayQDfK HECO Engineers managed the rehabilitation of Manzanar National Historic Site's 3.1-mile Auto Tour Route, which follows the perimeter of the former World War II camp. Preserving its historical significance, the route was paved with hot mix asphalt and chip-sealed to resemble its original macadam surface. Sensitive cultural resources were considered during design, and improvements were made to accommodate large vehicles. Additionally, storm drainage solutions were implemented to minimize future damage caused by stormwater. 👀 Check out our Project Page: https://lnkd.in/dSPsEhFg #CivilEngineering #Infrastructure #Construction #WaterResources #CivilEngineerLife #NationalParks #SustainableDesign #StructuralEngineering #WasteWater

Episode 8 of the Expert Series in the Dominican Republic: Building Resilient Structures in the Caribbean Welcome to the eighth episode of our expert series in collaboration with Samana Group! Today, I’m discussing how to construct buildings in the Caribbean to withstand earthquakes and hurricanes, ensuring safety and resilience. Key Considerations for Earthquake-Resistant Structures: • Flexible Foundations: Use flexible materials and techniques that can absorb and dissipate seismic energy. • Reinforced Concrete: Employ reinforced concrete frames and shear walls to enhance structural integrity. • Building Codes: Adhere to stringent building codes and standards designed for seismic activity. • Experienced Team: They need to know how to build here! Key Considerations for Hurricane-Resistant Structures: • Wind-Resistant Design: Opt for aerodynamic shapes and sturdy roofs to minimize wind pressure. • Reinforced Windows, Roofs and Doors: Use impact-resistant glass and secure window and door frames to prevent breakage. Nomad City and Resilient Design: At Nomad City, Samana Group integrates these principles to create safe and resilient buildings. The combination of cutting-edge technology and adherence to local building standards ensures that these structures can withstand the harshest conditions the Caribbean has to offer. Highlights of Episode 8: • Practical tips for constructing earthquake and hurricane-resistant buildings • Insights into the resilient design principles used in Nomad City • The importance of adhering to local building codes and standards and working with experienced structural engineer Stay tuned and follow the journey as we continue to explore the intricacies of resilient construction in the Caribbean! #realestates #ecology #sustainability #travel #tourism
