Airbus is planning to increase its sourcing of #components from India as the country has various #opportunities for Airbus Aircraft said Guillaume Faury. As per the latest data, the company has already doubled its sourcing components and services from India to €1 billion from 2019 to 2023. At present, Airbus has a partnership with more than 100 #suppliers in the country. Going ahead, Airbus will continue to expand its #componentsourcing, to double it each five years, maintaining a stable #growth for next decade. For the first time in 2023, a major shift took place when the size of the equipment sourced for #aircraft and #helicopters crossed that of IT services. This crossover is a crucial moment in Airbus’s sourcing plan. Companies associated with GIFAS - Groupement des Industries Françaises Aéronautiques et Spatiales obtained about $2 billion worth of goods on an annual basis from India. Airbus plans to increase component sourcing from India due to opportunities in the country. Airbus already doubled their sourcing to €1 billion from 2019 to 2023 and have partnerships with over 100 suppliers in India. CEO Guillaume Faury mentioned that India has potential for future growth and Airbus will continue to expand component sourcing, aiming to double it every five years. This shift is significant as the size of equipment sourced for aircraft and helicopters now exceeds that of IT services, indicating India's importance as a manufacturing hub.

Some interesting points of note in the May 2024 edition of Accenture's Commercial Aerospace Report: 1. In a positive development for India's aerospace manufacturing sector, MAHINDRA AEROSTRUCTURES PRIVATE LIMITED (#MASPL) has signed a #multiyear #contract of 100 million to supply approximately 2300 metallic components with Airbus Atlantic. As a part of the #agreement, #MASPL will #manufacture and #deliver #metalliccomponents and #smallassemblies for the entire #Airbus commercial aircraft family, including the #A320 series. MASPL plans to #supply nearly 2,300 varieties of #metalliccomponents to Airbus Atlantic in France from its #manufacturingbase in #India, thus expanding MASPL's existing programmes to directly supply parts to #Airbus facilities in #France and #Germany. #supplychain #transportation Does the famous 'weakest link' saying annoy you? Call me crazy. It does bother me when we apply it to supply chains and I can't even tell you exactly why. "The chain is only as strong as..." is obviously true and yet also a cliche. The proverb originates from a 1786 essay by Thomas Reid on the 'Intellectual Powers of Man.' Maybe what crosses me is that supply chains are so much more complex than this. It's like saying the sun comes around once a day. We kind of knew that already. Anyway, every now and then I am forced to begrudgingly acknowledge that these kinds of insights are true, valid and useful. Take Airbus, for example, which last week announced that they are looking at severe supply shortages which effectively prevent the company from extending its lead over rival Boeing. The industry has always been a duopoly, of course, and inbound supply chains are often a competitive battleground. Existing suppliers typically sell to both players and their capacity effectively constrains the industry. Safran, for example, expects its own shortages for parts, and they are certainly not the only ones struggling. Strengthening the weakest link in this situation may turn into a game of whack-a-mole. #truckl #innovation
