In a thought-provoking dialogue, 🌍 Egon Zehnder’s CEO Ed Camara and Executive Chair Michael Ensser , two seasoned leaders in the field, shared key findings from their latest global CEO study. They underscored how the intricacies of today’s world demand CEOs to adapt more than ever. CEOs are now expected to master business strategy and the art of “strategic empathy” to comprehend and connect with global socio-political changes. Ensser points out, “What most executives are missing is an understanding of how politics work”. 🌱 This study reveals that CEOs focus on climate action and AI, with many feeling more empowered to influence these areas than geopolitics. Leaders increasingly recognize their dual roles: business stewards and contributors to societal change. They are stepping into new realms, carefully navigating complex global issues and creating organizational cultures rooted in curiosity and openness. 🔍 As we face transformative shifts in economics, technology, and energy, today’s CEOs see themselves as observers and architects of a better future. The data shows an emerging collective ambition to lead beyond profit, shaping industries and society. We are excited to share these insights at a time when CEOs are preparing for an era of “groundbreaking systemic changes”. Is the role of CEOs evolving into something more than just a business leader? The answer is becoming increasingly unequivocal. To thrive in this chaotic new world, organizations need leaders with inner strength, character, and a moral compass. Recently, my colleagues, Thomas Buberl, Bill George, Nitin Nohria, and I met with a group of CEOs of major international companies. Our focus was to discuss how to lead in the context of the multiple, intersecting crises the world is facing — from geopolitical conflicts to environmental disasters, deepening political and social fractures, disrupted value chains, and disruptive technological change. Our conclusion: leaders need to aim higher than simply withstanding or responding to these seemingly never-ending shocks. Leaders must instead ensure their team and their organizations can thrive in this new environment. Here are six strategies we discussed for accomplishing this: 1. Take care of yourself 2. Lead by values 3. Seeing opportunities 4. Rethink your higher purpose 5. Redefine winning 6. Create energy Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dFDmmy6t #UnleashingHumanMagic #LeadershipIn2024

🚨 Don't Fall Victim to Stagnation In the dynamic landscape of business, it's easy to get comfortable with the status quo. However, ignoring market trend changes can spell disaster for even the most established companies. As the saying goes, "doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity." There's a fine line between calculated risk-taking and reckless behaviour. While innovation and experimentation are essential for growth, blindly persisting with strategies that have consistently underperformed can lead to severe consequences. It's essential to assess the risks associated with your actions and make informed decisions based on data and market insights. As leaders, it's our responsibility to foster a culture of agility and adaptability within our organizations. Encourage open dialogue, welcome diverse perspectives, and empower your teams to embrace change proactively. Remember, it's not about abandoning what's worked in the past—it's about evolving and staying relevant in an ever-changing landscape. #MarketTrends #RiskMitigation #Innovation #BusinessStrategy #Adaptability #Leadership #LinkedInPost

What makes a great leader in today’s world? It’s not their technical expertise. It’s not their ability to hit quarterly targets. It’s not even their years of experience. It’s their ability to see the world through someone else’s eyes. We’re living in a time when businesses must navigate unprecedented complexity. Markets shift overnight. Customer expectations are evolving faster than ever. Employees want to feel heard, valued, and connected. Yet...... ..... so many leaders are stuck in outdated paradigms, relying on strategies that worked in a different world. And they just can't bring themselves to stop seeing the world from their own perspectives. Looking at the world from the inside, out. But here’s the truth: The leaders who will thrive are those who embrace empathy, adaptability, and humanity. And are able to see things from the outside, in. And I've seen the power of this transition with my own eyes. I've seen what happens when people make that switch. Every year, for the last 2 decades, all of us at TIE Leadership have seen what happens when leaders rewire how they think and act. By stepping into someone else’s shoes they discover new perspectives. They unlock innovative solutions. And they create cultures where people don’t just show up—they thrive. This is what happens when leaders prioritise connection, collaboration, and courage over ego, bureaucracy, and outdated norms. And here’s the good news: When leaders choose to lead with humanity, it’s not just good for people. It’s better for business. I like to call this a Return On Humanity. So here’s a question to reflect on: What’s one step you can take this week to lead with more humanity? I’d love to hear your thoughts. 💬 #Leadership #Empathy #ReturnOnHumanity #TIELeadership
